I'm an Elevator Mechanic in SoCal and started when I was 19.

DON'T EVER SAY.... Hard work doesn't pay off! Because it DOES!!
Didn't grow up with a Dad and never had any help from family. Had to work and do this all on my own!

At 14 I had a paper route, bought my first bike. Worked at McDonalds to get the money for my first car, ’65 Mustang, paid cash.

For what it’s worth, the amount some of you younger guys are paying for your Camaros and insurance you would be better off buying a house.

I had an ’83 Mustang GT when I was young, looking back now, the car was fun but I wish I had spent that money on real estate instead. Life is much better when you own your home.

So my advice is,
1) Get a good education, no one can ever take that way from you.
2) Get a good job, hopefully something you enjoy doing
3) Buy a HOME
4) Collect and enjoy as many toys as you can afford!

The good thing about paying your own insurance is that it makes you more responsible when it comes to driving, you wont be speeding when your insurance is 615 a month, can you imagine if i ever got a speeding ticket? I dont want to imagine.
Unless you have a worse driving record than you admit to...you can definitely do better than that on insurance. Shop around...it should definitely be worth it. Hey 15 min. can save you 15% or more......j/k...Geico is the most expensive insurance I've ever seen. Call Safeco or Progressive; that's who was able to save my sons some money.

Im 18 and it was a reward for extremely good grades throughout high-school, high ACT score, and getting a full ride to my college choice.

Really at 21 you are still going to depend on Dad to take care of your insurance?
