October 2008 Sierra sales: 11,894 units sold.

October 2008 Tundra sales: 7,537 units sold.

No diesel...no heavy duty model...worst fuel economy in its class...

May as well at the Sierra & Silverado together, they're the same vehicle for the most part.

If their going to control these cars now a days with remote control why don't they have somekind of fail safe to prevent this. I could see this happening with any brand that uses a computer to control speed. Hell my computer screws up if I look at it the wrong way.

This guy says his Gas Pedel sucks itself down to the floor when it happens. Sounds like Crusie Control malfunctioning to me, if true.

I accidentally done this in my camaro the other day. Had my hand on it, sneezed then accidentally put it in neutral lol.

Seems to vary per report but the lexus story One Mean Chevy showed that going to neutral did nothing(even tried reverse and it didn't respond, but thats as intended). The car only stopped b/c it felt like responding to the driver again. After going 6 miles at 100+. Best part was when he contacted the technician, where at first he didn't know what happened when he duplicated it, then later sounded rather brainwashed into believing it was the floor mat that sucked the gas pedal to the floor.

I wonder if they were to install OnStar's equipment if they could monitor what all happens. Especially after they contacted that one guy after running a CTS-V down a drag strip b/c they thought he had a wreck. Just contact any Toyota going over 100 and hear the passengers plea for their lives.

#1 What should I do when my gas pedal is stuck to the floor:
A) Mash brakes & fudge up the brake pads
B) Examine what is wrong with the gas pedal
C) Put car in neutral & push on brakes.

My cousins won a few in his 5.4L Lightning. Superchargers do wonders on that engine.

. I was supposed to race a friend of mine who owns a lightning (come to find out he's blown it up twice already ), but we all couldn't find a weekend that we all could go to the strip. Plus, he RARELY drives the thing.

this isn't good though here's a little of the story from autoblog, really bad that 16 people have died.

Up to 2,000 Toyota customers claim to have experienced a sudden surge of acceleration, and some reportedly told ABC News that they didn't even have the recalled floor mats in their vehicles. Even more disturbing are the results of an ABC News investigation that reportedly found "hundreds" of accidents and up to 16 deaths as a result of unintended acceleration.

Four of those deaths occurred in August when an off-duty California Highway Patrol Officer, traveling with his wife, daughter and brother in-law, were killed after their Lexus accelerated uncontrollably. The driver's brother in-law called 911 and said that the brakes didn't work before the vehicle reached an intersection, struck another car, went into a ditch and caught fire. Some Toyota owners feel there is an electronic glitch in the system that controls the throttle and the ABC report shows that there is some anecdotal evidence which illustrates that incidents rose after the system was put into place in 2002, but so far, NHTSA has found no evidence to support those claims after six investigations

I never could figure out how a floor mat could cause the acceleration being claimed. I guessed it was something more serious within the engines computer.
