I work for large semi conductor manufacture. We shutdown 2 Weeks in Summer, 2 Weeks at Christmas. A lot of time major maintenance tasks cannot be performed while running production. Employees use accrued vacation time to cover the shutdowns, go unpaid, or claim unemployment for those times.

Problem is that GM doesn't have any rhyme or reason to when allocations happen. The dealer has some idea the total # for a year but no idea of when. 2016 was extra weird since it was a short MY.

He got 4 Camaro SS in November at launch, and then nothing in between. Logically he should have gotten one at SOME point but I guess his quota for 2016s was met super early.

That is not accurate from what I've been told. There's a guide number (which is allocations for the year for a model) and the actual number allowed for weekly ordering cycles.

Oh wow. Still, this sales manager isn't that dumb- he would have to know that a customer waiting 4 months for a car isn't acceptable. By the time all is said and done on this car, he will lose money. But he's stuck with it either way at this point and he wants to sell it to me since manuals are lot cancer (I test drove a Ruby 2SS 6M in February and it is still there).

Makes you wonder what happened.

Yeah for some reason manuals are "lot cancer".

I was told similar in regards to wanting a 2SS with manual and NO sunroof. So I ordered instead.

I have spent over two months combing the forums learning a ton. I am still amazed that there is more behind the dealer curtin. There is an old saying "Where there is mystery, there is margin." Clearly the dealers continue to try and hold onto as much mystery as they can.

Thanks for sharing. This gives me more insight into my prior issue that I am grateful to be past and sitting with a different dealer AND an accepted order with a TPW. Woohoo!

I wish I had seen a "Before you buy, visit Camaro6.com" billboard.

Remember,

lol there's a reason that smilie exists. But seriously he might not have really bothered to do his due diligence and validate his order would get accepted. Not here to blame him for the mistake. I can tell you I had a serious talk with mine about concerns over them getting the order picked up. But what do you know I was at 2000 status the day I ordered.

No problem, laborsmith and Becky are the best sources of info for ordering here. I can tell you my Sales Manager was impressed with all the info I have gathered on this site. It made the conversation very straight forward and the process of ordering easier on him. He only asked that I didn't bug him every day with order status. I laughed and told him we have Becky who does that for us!

It can't be said enough, Becky is awesome. We are lucky to have people as passionate as her to answer questions and provide info.

I'm hoping to order a 17 soon and potentially a 50th. I'm just wondering if the 6/6 TPW is full yet or if I still have a chance to make it in with you guys. I might be able to put a deposit down by the end of this week (Friday) once I'm sure how my budget looks. Had to put $1300 into my current Camaro to replace the fuel injection pump and related parts a couple weeks ago so that put a wet blanket on my plans for a bit...

If I were to contact Becky, would a PM would be ok to start or call? I know she's busy regardless of the medium but just wondering about the preferred method.

I think I placed my order after all the guys here, but don't have TPW yet. If I squeeze into 6/6 there's a chance. But guessing it's probably already full with other dealer lot orders.

A phone call to the number in her signature would be best. I think that's how I started my order process with her.
