Well, he probably was referring to it replacing the Camaro. They still could build a Chevelle.

When the SS changes platforms, change the name to Chevelle and make it look like this. Offer it in 4 doors and then maybe 2 if it sells. No less love for Camaro's.. just want to see more cool cars on the road and something that truly competes against the Charger in sales volume (and a 700hp+ version).

You said that it don't make sense to kill a successful nameplate. That's why I said that it's not the name that made the Camaro a success rather the 5th Gen. design is the reason!
