I think the horsepower war is going to be between Dodge and Ford for the muscle cars. That quote makes me think there may be a killer vette in the future, but nothing more for the Camaro
Yep, an GM doesn't talk about future products either. Which means we still know nothing.

On topic, I can believe Ford coming out with a 700+ hp mustang, but it weighing 3500lbs is a pipe dream!!! The 2.3 ecoboost Stang weighs more than that.

Yeah they had no plans for a Z06 and what happened about a month later?

I Hope GM steps up because a lot of people are not as brand loyal as they use to be. We will see what happens with Mustang and Challenger while we wait for Gen6 in the sales numbers. At the end of the day GM is in it to sell cars and if consumers don't buy because other brands are offering more power then GM will not have a choice. They HAVE to sell, if HP stops them from selling then GM will add HP.

I dont think Ford or GM need to sell 700hp cars to make money.

Their bread and butter is trucks and suvs and midsize cars.

Sure, they get some trickle and cross shopping when these monsters bring people to dealerships, but they're just as big of luxuries for them to sell as they are for us to buy.

For me (and I'm a minority), its not about how much HP you can stuff under the hood. Its more about handling, build quality, styling, comfort......and feeling. Its about the feeling I get about a car........what 'moves' me. As for the Hellcat........I think it will be a beast. I think many will be pleasantly suprised at how well it handles. I think there were some major suspension upgrades. But the Challenger has just never done it for me. I was so in hopes of a 'Cuda rebirth. As for Ford...they lost me with the new Mustang body style...too common to every other Ford. But I digress. Its good to see the competition heating up. I think it forces car manufacturers to build a better product.

Seriously think GM should think about taking a page out of Dodge's book. The Hellcat Challenger stepped on the Viper's foot and the Camaro can do the same. Sure the Corvette is actually selling, but it's also lighter. So what if the HP is a little higher in the Camaro, or close to the Vette? The lighter weight will win out won't it?

Ford is lucky, Dodge too since the Viper bombed, because they can focus their efforts into one performance car.

I agree with the first part but not the second. Chevy Performance has soo much more than Ford or Dodge with the Vette and they gave us four performance versions of the gen5 Camaro. The other guys can only wish. I don't believe the Camaro will be ignored in gen6

GM is heading into third place. I doubt they will better ford or dodge this next round. Dodges new scheme makes for a buyers dream on how they have set up the challenger for additions. When you look at the packages it is like a build your own custom car.

not to start a argument but in my own opinion I feel GM totally jacked us on not letting us get all parts from z/28 and I don't believe they will better themselfs going forward.
