I do think they did a great job with the exterior design. A friend and I were talking about this just the other day. I really like the look of the Challenger. I did test drive one for a day not to long ago. I was not excited about it, but I still love the look. So, I will admire them from the outside and in a garage that is not mine.

I like all three of the modern pony cars, but I see each one as having a different mission. The Mustang is the lightest and with it's live axle and ample power, it's the dragster of the trio. The Challenger is the largest, heaviest, and worst handler, but it has more interior room and a supple ride. It's the gentleman's hot rod, a boulevard cruiser. The Camaro is the one in the middle, heavier than the Mustang, but lighter than the Challenger. The styling of the Mustang and Challenger is more retro. The styling of the Camaro has enough retro cues that everybody instantly knows it's a Camaro, but its far more modern and edgier than the other two. I think that in this case, the middle is the place to be. I personally like the styling of the Camaro best, the Challenger next and the Mustang least. I really liked the 05-09 Mustangs, but I've never cared for the rear of the 10-13's. I know lots of people who drool over the Challengers, but none of them ever buy one. I think it's the price that keeps them out of them. I have one buddy who told me for three years that he was going to buy a Challenger SRT-8, but when he went to get one, he came back with a Camaro SS. He said that the Challengers were much more expensive and the dealers wouldn't deal on them. He said that the Camaro was just a lot more bang for the buck. I think that this is why the Camaro out sells the other two.

I respectfully disagree. Its dodge's past history of poor reliability and the really high price point has reflected its sales. Many members here have said time and time again if the SRT was price competitive with the mustang or camaro they would have bought it.

I seriously considered the Challenger RT before I bought my Camaro SS. If the Camaro didn't exist, I probably would have bought a Challenger. IMO, it's the second best-looking car on the road - after the Camaro. For me, the Challenger was just too big, and the Camaro was just right. The Camaro also had better performance stats- more power (SS vs RT), better brakes, better handling, better reliability, plus better styling, for about the same money. It was an easy decision. A buddy of mine has an orange Challenger RT that he drives to church, and he usually parks beside my Camaro SS. Guess which one gets more attention from both older drivers, younger folks, and the kids? Even his wife says she likes the Camaro better and wishes they had bought one.

Yes the challenger when compaired to the classic challengers looks like they put it in a sideways car crusher to make it narrower and it made it fatter............Though it does look more retro classic the retro look than any of the stang retros.........and they do have more room inside for family cruisin. The supposed retro stangs were always a dissapointment to me as they were supposed to mimic what year? If you took all their styling cues you would be lost in various years and ugly rear ends.......

They don't sell the Challenger with a V6 and a stickshift. Also, the starting price is over 27k... no thanks

2013 1SS Coupe: $32,635 (MSRP)
2013 Challenger R/T: $29,995 (MSRP) The Camaro costs $2,640 more than the Challenger…which is significant. The Challenger is definitely slower and heavier, but it is still a cool ride…and it’s the cheapest way to get a V8/manual transmission muscle car. |

Was factoring in tax and title. It's what I did when I purchased the Camaro, so that's what I remembered as the base. My bad.

I like them as well. And if the price was more comparable, it would have been a tough decision.
