Anything that wants to kill you with the blip of its throttle is NOTHING like a Honda Accord and the guy was either lying to you or he juggles chainsaws while sword swallowing on fire for fun.

Thanks njmike for sharing your experience with the 2013 GT500. I can believe that the Shelby is more than a handful, but like others I would like to see at least once.

Your father has very good taste, and has a very impressive garage!

You said that he had a Ford GT at one point? Ford GT's are one of my all time faves! What year was his? Color? I take it he doesn't have it anymore, what made him want to get rid of it?

2006 white/blue stripes beats the shit out of me all I know is he is regretting it now. That car was the most amazing car I have ever driven not only was it blistering fast but it had f1 like handling and took bumps in the road like a cadillac so you felt very comfortable doing 170mph or more

pic is my son sitting on the ford gt and him sitting in the gt500

Nice collection! I won't lie. I'm jealous. But I'm sure you both worked very hard for what you have. Congrats!

Believe it or not, a lot of us "older" folks grew up on cars that were out of control. We'd find something that was never designed for high horsepower and stuff a crazy engine in it. Car went one way while you were steering the other way. Like riding a bull......

Thats a good description of how this car feels. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining I think the thing is awesome just wished they would have spent a little more time and money on the suspension. The car is such a tremendous deal that even if you had too pay another 4 or 5 grand for it, it would still be a bargain. I know he could spend 4 or 5 grand now on the suspension but he is not like that I would be he would never

I have had a couple S-10 pickups with SBCs in them, wild as hell and I miss them dearly, particularly my regular cab 84 model :(

My father has owned some nasty cars in his days ferrari's lambo's and a ford gt and he called me after he took it home and said this car scares the shit out of me
That kinda scares me, and makes me wanna drive one even more.

That's exactly what I want to hear. Plenty of power on tap, just in case.
But, cars with a lot of power should always be respected. The 2013 Mustang GT500 is one of them.

I drove a friend of mine's just the other day. I didn't get to truly stretch the legs of the car because we didn't have a lot of time, but I did get to push it through a couple turns and give it wide open throttle in a few gears. This particular car has a few bolt ons and a tune. The car handles corners surprisingly well, but it doesn't feel like it would when just driving around. It's hard to explain. All that goes out the window when you hit the go-button though. Holy crap does that thing move. You give it gas in third gear and it feels like you just hit 88mph. If my Z is a scalpel, that car is a machete with a laser-sight.

The big thing about the 2013 GT500 is that if you're scared to let it out of its cage then you won't be able to. It's about confidence that the car will do what you tell it to do, you have to let the Shelby know that you're the boss and not let it psych you out.

You just have to know where you begin to lose confidence in the car doing what you want it to do. It appears that some people have a very low confidence in the car...
