The only good thing to ever come from Pontiac was the Firebird. And as much as a new firebird would be cool to see, it wouldnt be good business sense. It would wind up exactly how the 4th gen did.

My dad had a 2009 G8 GT from February 2009 to September 2011. It got wrecked when a guy swerved out of control by the 1st Ave Bridge in Seattle, and the damages were too much for the insurance to fix it, so they auctioned it. Here's the G8 literally a few days before it got wrecked.
![]() He recently bought a 2007 Grand Prix GXP as a secondary car, and he'll switch between that and the Camaro (depending on what he feels like driving). He was going to look at G8 GTs, but this was $10k cheaper than the G8s he was going to look at, and he had a 2004 GP with the supercharged V6, which he liked. Hell, he'd have gotten the supercharged V6 if he saw one. Anyways, here's the GP. |

I never really had an issue seeing Pontiac go away. Since the late 70's, Pontiac has been GM's "badge engineering" division. Most of the cars were basic, bland cars with some small exterior changes to make them look...."exciting". Pontiac had some cool cars in the 60's but times have changed. The only thing I will miss are some of the nameplates like "Trans Am", "GTO", etc.

Sure the aztek is nothin great to look at, but there are definitely worse looking cars out there. And for years, pontiac was GMs unofficial "test" division. They would try a lot of weird stuff out there before giving it to chevy, caddy, etc. Firebirds, GTOs, Fieros, Solstices are all pontiacs that i will definitely miss. I have a cat named Fiero

I wouldn't say Pontiac or even plymouth would never return.
Don't know what will happen in the future. They still pay for the copyrights. If marketing says its a good idea, GM's doing great, then they'll bring it back. They could bring back olds if the market has that type of demand. You can use the present as a starting point for the future but never use it as a template. |

The FJ Cruiser is styled after the original FJ which today commands high prices at classic car auctions. It is legendary. It's Toytoas version of the Jeep CJ. And whatever you think about it's looks, the FJC sells because it's purpose built as an off road truck and would obliterate an Aztec. It's built like a tank and can do serious off roading right out of the showroom floor. Hey no one buys the Jeep Wrangler because of it's svelte and sexy style either (sic). So that analogy was quite a bit skewed. |

Trans Am's have always been my favorite. If I had the money I would do this. I bet this would turn some heads out on the road.

I miss Pontiac as well. Had a '96 Sunfire, 2001 Grand Prix GT Coupe, 2004 GTO and 2008 G6 GT over the years. Had really hoped GM would do a Firebird version of the 5th gen. No such luck.
Oh well. guess I will have to save up my pennies for a restored 1973 SuperDuty Trans Am! |
