Dyno sheet shows 359/397... this was not the final tune numbers... we tweaked it a bit afterwards and was about 370 HP at the wheels..

so the math..

HP at the crank = 470

20% (AWD) would be 470 x .2 = 94 HP.... 470 - 84 = 376.. so ok... maybe 460 at the crank

TQ at the crank = 500

20% would be 500 x .2 = 100 ft/lbs... 500 - 100 = 400 ft/lbs.. so that is close..

other math would be to do the calculation from the 1/4 mile stats which are 12.95 @ 108 MPH in a vehicle that weighs 5185 with driver...

All from a little 3.5 liter motor.... LOL

20% of 370 would be around 444HP and 476TQ. Just saying. 20% is on the high side even for an AWD. Not bad for a 3.5 Liter. What are your mods? Turbo, Meth, full bolt-ons, etc?

Do you weigh over 500lbs. I thought the Flex's were around 4400-4500lbs from the factory, more towards 4500 with options.

That's the BASE Flex.... I have an EcoBoost which requires the AWD... and both the EcoBoost engine and AWD add weight.... quick look at the 2013 specs (basically unchanged from 2011) puts the curb weight of the EcoBoost AWD Flex at 4839! And yes, i tip the scales at over 300 pounds... LOL

Think your math is off... it's 20% off the 470 (or 460).

Stock is 355 at the crank... baseline dyno is 283... so...

355 - 283 = 72 HP loss

72 / 355 = .2028 = 20% drive train loss...

460 - 20% = 460 x .80 = 368 HP which is right about were we are at...

As for mods... this the twin turbo EcoBoost. Mods are tune, methanol injection and axle back exhaust... TSW wheels which are lighter than stock but not sure how much they actually helped... still running the stock air box AND running on All Season radials! LOL

I'm still waiting for someone, somewhere, to point out a non-boosted Ford V6 that puts out anything north of 330hp, particularly one that "gets 30mpg around town."

If Ford (or anyone else) were able to do that for $30K, my SS would be traded in tomorrow. (Ok, Not. )

So far, all of the V6's mentioned in this thread that make 350+ horses have turbo or SC help.

Remember what the OP said: there was no lung on the motor (which would have been painfully obvious even to an untrained eye). It has everything to do with going too far over the 100hp/liter general rule for non-boosted factory motors that has been in existence for over 20 years: reliability.

You could likely put cams with lots of timing into a 3.7L Ford 6 and run premium fuel, but it probably wouldn't be very "streetable" from the factory, and likely wouldn't meet emissions. And it certainly would not get 30mpg.

Ok, think I'm done with this thread...

Ford does not make a N/A V6 with 400hp. If they did the N/A 5.0 would be producing 550hp. He is full of shit and trust me as a Mustang owner they are on both sides of the track. I never understood why people need to lie to feel proud of their car. I am proud of my car even though it doesn't make 425hp. I would be proud of a car that made 300hp and did it at 30mpg. No need to exaggerate.

Also I don't think there is any excuse for being misinformed. He should know what he bought. If he doesn't he should buy a Camry.
