I agree too

The question is, is it worth it to you to make it more likely for some a-hole to do that...because that's what you're doing when you take up two spots.

An analogy to this would be...You own a bicycle. You park it on the street with no lock. Someone takes it.

1) The thief is wrong for doing what he did.
2) The bike owner is stupid for leaving the bike unlocked.

Both are true, right?

Other people living in the dorm have every right to park there just as the OP does. Why should he get two spaces? If you live in an apartment or condo and you have the option to purchase two side-by-side parking spaces and want to park like an ass-hat diagonally across both spaces, by all means have at it. But in public places without reserved spaces there's no need to park like that. You're just going to attract unwanted attention.

I'm not saying parking like a jack ass is ok. But the punishment should fit the crime. Causing someone thousands of dollars in damage because of how they park is serious over kill. And instantly makes you the bigger douchebag by a hefty margin.
I'm also aware the OP didn't get his car damaged, just a note. I wouldn't call it a funny note though, it's more like a threat.

It's not right to key ANY car.

What I keep saying though...is that leaving a car in two spots makes it more likely that someone WILL damage your car. Doesn't make it right...but it is more risky to park it that way. You're drawing attention to yourself by parking like a douchebag. And yes, I believe that people that park in 2/4 spots are douchebags. I'm not going to key their car though.

Someone else will though...because some people are a-holes enough to do that.

So the question is...is it worth taking up multiple spots when it increases the chance of getting your car damaged?? To me, it's not.

If your car gets damaged for something like that...while I'll sympathize, if it turns out you were taking up multiple spots...I have far less sympathy for you because you tempted fate in a douchebaggish way.
Totally agree. This is why I don't park like a jackass, because I know the real jackasses are just looking for an excuse.

But I would like to say that people who park all stupid aren't the real douchebags. These people just want to protect their cars, from other people who simply don't know how to park at all without bumping your car, or slamming their door into yours. Unfortunately what they do to protect puts them in more danger from cowardly assholes who damage ur car while no one is looking.

The real assholes are the people who can't drive and parking lots with too small spaces.

This is also why people hate to go anywhere with me cuz I'm gonna take 20 min to find a parking spot. But so far my system works and havnt had any door dings or bumper scrapes on my last two cars.

I don't understand, why not just park the right away and avoid all the drama? He could be a bigger ahole or a smaller ahole with a gun.

This is what I was thinking too. Even if you had to park over the line because of someone else, you should have just parked elsewhere.
