Anyways, I love the competition going on right now. All 3 companies Ford, Dodge, and Chevy are building awesome cars and raising the stakes. |

Why would anyone want a car that only can perform good in a straight line?
Anyone who thinks the camaro is outselling the mustang because of sheer performance is just wrong. The exterior look is the single #1 factor the camaro is eating the mustangs lunch. Let Chevy slip up in the design dept for the 6 gen camaro and watch ford laugh all the way to the bank. performance is important but not nearly as important as looks. The performance needs to back up the looks, it's the real meat and potatoes but the looks are what make you walk into the show room. It's what makes you smile before you even get inside. Your sold before you even see one in real life, much less drive one. Hard core performance enthusiast who only care about the numbers are the minority and not the bulk of buyers of performance cars. It's the same reason hot chicks are way more popular than those awkward funny looking fat chicks who more than likely have great personalities, but no boyfriend.

The difference in Actual laptimes between the mustang and the camaro are less than a second from each other in every compassion I have seen including the 4.5 mile VIR. The main advantage the mustang has is that it feels better bone stock. But once you start modding the camaro has the advantage, the chasis is much stiffer, better balance etc... Just ask Pete from peders... The camaro chasis has more potential for track purposes than the mustang.

Hmm....apparently shining down a chevy emblem while driving around at night is being bold.

It is true, the Camaro is the gotta-have-it car of the last couple of years, but it will likely only last until the new Mustang comes out in 2014 as a 2015 model. Unless Ford screws up royally with the design, I imagine the Mustang will retake the sales lead. Perhaps until the 6th Gen Camaro is released. |

So it also should be expected that the 1LE will easily keep up with the ZL1 as well since it is supposed to out handle the Boss which was biting at the toes of the ZL1 as well. Yes 2 seconds is a lot on a track but according to Chevy it should take out the Boss on VIR so it should keep up to the ZL1 even better than the Boss.... |

It was almost like immediately after the first gen was released each following gen just got uglier and uglier until it died. The 1st gen camaro still looks bad ass today. The other ones, not so much. The 91 mustang gt 5.0 was pretty hot around then too. Maybe just you think it looked better. Those things are subjective after all. Why do you think the mustang out sold the 3rd gen? I think history pretty much made up its mind that the 80s was full of bad taste. But in any case, I know you can't truely believe that performance trumps design. Maybe for a few people, but not the majority. People are shallow. As far as the mustang taking over when the redesign comes out. It's a coin toss. It really depends on how it looks. Both of these cars have plenty of power. No one really cares if one is 2 sec faster or slower than the other. I don't see anyone canceling their orders for the zl1, cuz on paper the Shelby is faster but the zl1 looks way better.

I am in the opposite camp. What is the point of Ford putting out a 650 HP Mustang when they cant get 550 HP to the ground with current GT500?
I love that Chevy is trying to put out high quality vehicles instead of just slapping more and more HP in it and calling it a day. |

They are two different vehicles, the Shelby is more true to what a muscle car is, brute force that will kill you if you let it out of its cage, the ZL1 a comfortable GT car that is prone to temper tantrums but always let's you know that your the boss... For the record both cars are awesome and could kill you but the ZL1 seems less like it wants to kill you.... |
