It's a welcome alternative from BOF trucks. IMO, doesn't fit well with Pontiac's lineup. There are rumors of a crew cab model that'll be a GMC which would definitely help with fuel economy issues as well as provide an alternative from a full size Sierra or mid size Canyon.

![]() But it's basically a Holden Ute, which is very popular in Australia, that was brought over to the US and badged a Pontiac. Same engine and interior (minus the rear seats) as the G8, but with a pretty nice-sized truck bed attached. Basically it's a car-based truck as opposed to a body-on-frame truck. Time will tell if this thing will sell...

I was in Australia for a summer and I hated the Holden version of these when I got over there, but after a couple months they grew on me. Now I think they are pretty cool, although I think the Holden is much better looking. They will never fit into my vehicle needs but they might serve a few people pretty well. In the end though, I think it probably wont last much longer than the new GTO.

If people want a sporty car they'll buy one.
If people want a pickup truck they'll buy one. BUT who the hell would want a mix of the 2, Why did the El Camino die. Because no one needed this things.

What was the GMC name? Sprint? Caballero? Diablo? Seems like it was Sprint. Dumb name. Implies a Suzuki G10 powered car. How about Caballero for the V6 and Diablo for the V8?

Nope, slightly faster. But generally speaking, yes.
People that want to have a sporty truck of course! As far as needing them, who actually needs a car with any more than 150 hp? Thats enough to get you to highway speed in any sized car. Need has very little to do with performance cars. I can't foresee any driving situation on public roads where I'd need to get to 60 mph in less than 20 seconds. Likewise, I can't see anyone who would need a car that can be loaded like a pickup. But that will never stop some people from wanting them though

The El Camino was never cool. Ever.
Noooooo, can't bring the Firebird back, instead we get....that. Way to build excitement, Pontiac.
