I really hope they do something like the G8, it is far too nice of a car to kill off along with Pontiac. Offer it with the 3.6 DI 304 HP 6 and I would buy one .
Only difference...

There was also a Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Saab 9-7x, Isuzu Ascender...

i know they make other SUV off of the same platform. but i was just saying how easy it was to offer a car/suv that was resold as a different one.

Seems like they were considering rwd for the next Impala before the oil thing last year, but then dropped it. I don't know why that matters anyway. To me a Zeta Impala makes sense. They could build it in the same plant as the Camaro. The Malibu and the current fwd Impala are not that different in size. I also think a Buick version of the Solstice makes sense.

Perhaps the G8 didn't sell well because GM was trying to feed 8 mouths with a marketing budget that wouldn't even support one brand? Maybe because it was sold under a less popular brand with fewer dealers and lower traffic? Maybe because it didn't have a familiar name, just some silly letter-number thing? Methinks selling it as a Chevy Impala or Chevelle would solve all those issues. Given the success of the Charger, the market seems to be pretty darn receptive to the idea of a 4 door V8 family sedan.

If the G8 was rebadged as a Chevy, I'd spend many sleepless nights debating between it and the Camaro. Trading the Camaro's looks for nearly as good looks, more room, and a bit more respectability (propriety?) would be a very close call. Too bad, GM.

With GM giving up on the G8 because of poor marketing and budgeting and rumors of the next Cadillac slotting below the CTS transitioning from Alpha to Epsilon II, I have fewer and fewer reasons to be a Government Motors customer every day. As it stands now, the Camaro, Corvette, Malibu, CTS, and maybe the Cruze if it comes in SS trim are the only GM vehicles I'd consider owning. And given that the real CEO of GM is President Obama, I forsee a very dark future for the Camaro, Corvette, and CTS, and no possibility of a Cruze SS. What a shame that the once greatest car company on earth fell into years of poor management, began a recovery with exceptionally fine products, only to fall victim to an economy destroyed by idiot bankers and taken over by a government that though buzzing New York with the President's plane and bailing out said idiot bankers was a good idea. What a shame.

But nothing is really flying off the shelves at this point for anyone.
I'd really hate to see a good car wasted. I also hate the smug look on my friends face because he got "in before the lock" so to speak.

>It isn't quite that easy to take the Middle East Lumina and bring it over here -- that car has hundreds of engineering changes and parts and components changes that would need to be made in order to make it compliant with U.S. Safety/Crashworthiness/Fuel System/Emissions Systems standards -- and I don't see us spending any money right now on something like this -- there is just too many other things that need to be done right now.

Would I like to see a Chevy version of the G8? BOY HOWDY!!!!
I've always wanted the Camaro, but I've said it a million times....

If the Camaro wasn't here, I'd already have a G8 GT sitting in my garage...RIGHT NOW.

I LOVE'EM!

I have seen a couple TV ads for the G8. The G8 GXP was on the back of a couple car magazines. Pontiac also has a huge advertisement in Times square that has been there for a couple of years.
