That's what's gonna happen to a lot of ZL1s on the road. They'll pull up next to any year GT500 and think their 580hp is enough.

Yeah and in most cases the ZL1 will win too. Most people on the road will be driving the older model year GT500's and wont stand a chance. Not many people are going to pay $60,000 for a Mustang sorry it just wont happen and the sales will prove that again this year. Especially not one with the current outdated chassis where you feel every bump and crack in the road. As a daily driver a ZL1 will be much better than a GT500 with the independent rear suspension. As far as the GT500 blowing anything from GM away sorry but not hardly it will barely beat a ZL1 and wont stand a chance against a Z06 with the Z07 package or a ZR-1 Corvette. It's going to be a moot point either way because not many will be bought and the ones that are will be by Mustang fans that will roll the car off trailers and not drive the car like its supposed to be. Believe me I have seen it a guy here where I live was at a local car show and had 2 new 2010 GT500's a coupe and convertible and trailored them in on a trailer didnt even drive them. Not saying everyone will do that but still.

Chances are, if you roll up on an older GT500 on the road and they are willing to play, they will not be stock. This being the case, it's highly likely the ZL1 still loses.

BMD, let me ask you a simple question. Have you ever actually driven a GT500? Your comments lead me to believe you have not and are simply regurgitating things others who have never driven one have said. Contrary to your belief, people will be lining up to buy the 2013 GT500 just like they are lining up to buy a ZL1.

Which is yet another reason to believe he's speaking out his tail end about stuff he knows nothing about. He can repeat stuff with the best of them, but don't look for any original thoughts or facts behind his opinions.

It's not an assumption its a FACT. It was on Car & Driver before they announced the 650hp GT500 that Ford is wanting a 600hp Shelby that will be in the $60,000 price range. Thats the current car and it will be on the same chassis as the new Boss 302 Laguna Seca Edition that everyone on every site noted didnt do as well on the roads when compared to the ZL1 as far as a smooth ride goes. I would rather have a car I dont feel every bump in the road in than the Shelby. Im sure the GT500 will be faster in the 1/4th but anything else I would take the ZL1. It's a shame the ZL1 weighs so much thats the only shortcoming of the car cant wait for that Alpha platform lighter Camaro.

And its common sense you have to pay to play... You really think they are going to release a 650hp car in the $55,000 range? Sorry it wont be the current GT500 is around that range already with less power. And the track pack on the new GT500 isnt standard equipment you have to pay more for the SVT performance package. I would rather have the complete package from the factory already like the ZL1 offers. If im going to pay $60,000 to $70,000 for a SVT GT500 why not get a used ZO6 and blow it away for a cheaper price?

Got a question for you "too slow" do you own a Camaro??? If not why are you on the forum other than to put the car down all the time. I never see you post anything good about the car just curious what your agenda is on a Camaro site?

Awww...did I hurt your feelings? Put down the Camaro? Where and when? As I've said before, I'm not going to praise any car just for the sake of praising it or just because it's manufactured by a company I tend to like better than another.

One does not have to own or drive a Camaro currently in order to appreciate the car or participate on this website. Have I owned a Camaro in the past? Yep. Am I going to buy a Gen5? Nope. Not buying a new Mustang either.

Hears BMD searching my past posts...

They havent announced the price of the new GT500 yet. Ford announced the price of all the 2013 Mustangs except the GT500 so far. And they have the other models over priced on top of that which will not be gaining them any sales against the Camaro. Its not going to matter any the Camaro will still outsell the Mustang all year long again first month is down already all we have are 11 more to go. We dont need 650hp to outsell the Mustang with the ZL1 if they did they would have just put the LS9 and added more power in it.

For the people saying the new GT500 wont be in the $60,000 price range

■2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca – $49,990

^^^^^ Looks to me like it has a strong chance of being since the lesser Boss 302 Laguna is in the $50,000 range. Why would someone buy a Boss 302 over a Shelby GT500 then????

The ZL1 is $57,195 with destination and gas guzzler tax.
GT500 is $53,600 with SVT performance pack, destination and NO gas guzzler tax.

The way Ford kicked Chevy in the nuts by announcing the 2013 GT500 650 hp/200+ mph the same day ZL1 details came out tells you Ford is aiming right at ZL1. I say they add $5k max to the prize of the GT500 with the SVT package to put it at $58,600 compared to the ZL1 $57,195.
