I'm a relative newbie here, but have moderated on several other large automotive forums. You think DTR (Dead Thread Revival) is bad now and the car is only 2 years old. Wait until it's 10 years old and the cars can be had for <$10k. The stupidity will make your head spin.

I have been on this site since 2006. I never read the manual when we have this site. Better info here.

Just help the new people. Even if you think their questions are stupid or have been covered over and over. OR just ignore them. Giving them a smart ass or rude remark will end in one result.

A dead forum. Or a very small group of enthusiasts. New blood is essential. The true idiots will eventually show their colors and be run off, but to chase off decent people isn't helping nayone.

I'd also add that a lot of threads get to a certain size and people feel they have already 'read' them so you get a lot less eyes on an old thread.

Plus, topics get warped into different topics a lot of the time. (I'm one of the worst offenders) ........ In fact, I may be doing it now. LOL

I notice a back and forth trend, actually. I notice the above first, then I see new users getting necro-bashed for posting replies in the search results. ("Really, OP, this thread is sooo February 20** ago...")

Lighten up, people. If someone can't win, nobody will ever play.

Maybe we should have an annual forum for 2009 talk, 2010 talk, and so on? At what point does a forum become overmoderated to the point of defunction?

I've been a moderator/admin for a smaller group forum, so I understand how frustrating constantly moving threads around can be, but then, wearing the hat comes with disadvantages, too.

Just be nice to the noobs and welcome them. Don't be mean to 'em with the "did you try search?" It makes us look like a bunch of haters to the new folks.

We need to wait for them to be here for a week or two before we let them figure that out...

just a lot of traffic on the forum. i don't read 90% of the posts in this particular sub-forum alone because there are just too many that are pointless and that no one has time for.

there need to be more stickies to keep people from posting the same crap as often i guess. though it is fun from time to time to hear new thoughts on the same v8 vs. v6/l99 vs. ls3/black vs. silver/2ss vs ss arguments
