either way, as long as they are still in business 3 years down the road, I am ahead as I plan on keeping my vert for awhile. Also, this way, I pay them once and don't have to worry about it again or get any annoying phone calls.

V8, are you planning on subscribing to Onstar?just curious.
I probably wont subscribe to onstar cyber grey vert. I have two vehicles so the camaro is not my daily drive, its parked now but I will probably only put a few thousand miles a year on it. It would like to have the XM but for the onstar, I doubt it.

Had it for a few years and

Have had XM for a few years now. Love the stations but hate the phone hassle's and the difficulties getting the system turned on and off each October when I garage her for the winter.Last year when I called to have it turned off they failed to and left it on all winter long. Then they tried to charge me 3 months when it was supposed to be shut off.Called them in the spring and told them cancel service and after talking to 3-4 people asked for the manager and she agreed to cancel my account.Spring comes and I get a phone call at the house offering me 6 months for $ 29.00.I say go for it send me and invoice. So far ok.
So this year I call to have it shut off in October and they say ok will shut off and for me to call in April to have it turned back on in May.I put the car up for storage in October and get her out two three times to clean on her in the drive way and XM is still on.So I call them and let them know that it is still on and blah blah blah and the girl says well our computer shows it turned off.I said well its not want to hear it and I turn it up loud and said can you hear it.She says yea ! I said I do not want to receive something without paying and the car is garaged for the winter and I only pull her out on sunny days to warm her up.She says well I guess your getting free radio !
Heck of a business model for sure.Definitely a hassle but for $29.00 for 5 months you cant beat it.Just remember do not give them a credit card, mailed invoice only & expect to spend a lot of time on the phone with the many bozos that they employ. The worse customer service that I have EVER experienced hands down.

V8,
similar situation with me.
I maybe put approx. 6500 kms on it this year and now it is stored for the winter.
I do enjoy XM when out in the vert, but I think Onstar is not necessary.
Car already has bluetooth and I just use my portable GPS unit , therefore IMO Onstar redundant.

I have had XM on every new GM vehicle I bought....When I purchased the vehicle at the dealership I made them give me a 3 yr subscription becuase I knew that I would be trading the vehicle within 3 yrs.....

When I purchased my Camaro I insisted that they include a lifetime service to XM with the deal and they agreed because I know I would not be selling this car.

Lifetime subcriptions run around 400.00 and follow the vehicle for life.....they can not be transferred UNLESS the vehicle is totaled in an accident...then they will transfer the service for you.

IMO if you like XM just get it thrown in the deal when you purchase the car and then you have no problems.

I like XM because I always have service, especially in the rural area I live in and travel. I have had my car for over 2 years now and still only have 10k miles so I don't drive mine much.....But this may help some people in the future.

I in the same situation as you, if I can get a good deal I think I will go for the lifetime membership with XM and leave the Onstar

I went ballistic. I logged all of the calls and was finally able to speak to a manager and threatened a harassment lawsuit. That finally stopped them. They have some real winners working there.
They called me a million times too. I don't generally answer my phone if I don't know the number, or if it appears to be a sales call. It's so annoying when they do that!!

A friend of mine just had the same issues with XM charging her automatically. That bugs me. I renewed because they gave me a deal and I love my XM, but if they start pulling this crap on me, I won't be happy and WON'T be a customer!!
