Weight is definitely killing the Chally. The 392 would blow the doors off my 5.0 if it was only a bit lighter.

If the 392 were lighter it would be blowing the doors off shelbys.

I like my SS (manual transmission so it's lighter) and it's at about the limit of what I'd find acceptable for that many doors/seats, etc.
4100, but the SRT8 would not need mods to the suspension, etc, as it already has a 2 mode electronic suspension. Seriously, 100 to 200 pounds is NOT going to make that much of a diference.

The SRT8 lists 4170 for MT, 4160 for AT. That's before any supercharger and associated mods of course. Then there are things like the brakes, pretty much equivalent to the SS, but stopping more weight, and the bigger/better brakes of the ZL1 are obviously included in it's stock weight (but again, it's a damn heavy car). I'd assume you'd want some stiffer anti-sway bars to compete against something like the ZL1, whether that adds weight depends though. Anyway I look at it, it's more weight to push around with very little benefit. Yes, you can over-power it and bolt on more stuff, but it seems a lot more like a "charger" to me with the big back seat than a serious performance car. Sure, an SRT8 could be fun, but your taking the mileage hit, the weight hit, the numbness hit, the braking hit, etc. You can address some of these, but in the end I think it's just not as "serious" of a car/chassi for the same purpose (not that it isn't a "serious" car). Isn't it basically the chrysler 300 chassi?

The wheelbase on the Chalenger 4 inches shorter than the 300/Charger. it is a good chasis and the Latest SRTs are being compared to the BMW M3 in the handling department. The 11 up LX/LY cars are much improved in the chasis department over the 06-10s. Being a sedan platform does not mean bad handling, hell you realize the Camaro uses the Pontiac G8 platform, right? the fact is that Camaro and Challenger are very similar in the handling dept, even with the weight differences. Neither are small cars and while the Challenger is slightly larger, it just makes better use of the space.

This thread is like going to the Bush Ranch and asking where the Obama 2012 sign is. www.challengertalk.com is a great resource for Challenger info.
