I hope this thread stays open because this shows more than anything that a few seconds of bad judgement can go so horribly wrong... everyone from time to time has had a thought of doing something like that at a stoplight and this SHOWS why we should (and do) use our good judgement and pass on it.

Cause think about it......We sit here and go, "What a douch". But, think about what EACH of these two guys are going thru right now.

They had to call the cops and try to lie their way out of this. Witnesses and scene evidence do them in. It is obvious they were racing. In some places in the US, a conviction for that means forfeiture of your car, doesn't it? Either way, you've got some nasty legal problems headed your way. Insurance agencies get pretty pissy when you call them to say you were street racing and wrecked your car. This kind of crap stays on your record too. Imagine applying for a job and when they do the background check THIS comes up. These two guys will be dealing with this thru the rest of the holidays, and long after. But, it could have been worse.

In the late 90s thru early 2000s, I had one of the fastest Camaros in Dallas. A 95 black 6 speed convertible Z28 with heads/cam and a bottle. I was already 30, so I was "the old man" around the street, and lived with a target on my back. My reply was ALWAYS, "I'm at the Texas Motorplex every single Friday night so you can ALWAYS catch me there anytime you want to run. I have a standing offer to pay back the entry fee to race to ANYONE who wants to come run me." This one kid with a Mustang that HATED me told everyone in town he was going to blow my a$$ away once his new nitrous kit arrived, etc. Cool, "Meet me at the track"! Problem was, he got the kit, installed it, and was doing high speed blasts in his neighborhood at night testing it. A lady in her late 30s pulled out in front of him and was killed instantly. He was going "over" 110mph. He and the guy in the Mustang with him were in the hospital for 2-3 months. The "kid" was convicted of felony vehicular manslaughter and spent several years in prison. He has to live the rest of his life with that on his record, and worse, knowing he killed someones mother, wife, daughter, friend. Pretty heavy burden.

I've been by there before, LOL.

Woodland, just north of Houston.

Turns out the C6 is a guy who scammed my buddy out of a Z06 cam. What goes around....

Another funny thing is the officer who responded to the scene is on a GTO forum. http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427140

Both of them have arrest warrants. See post above with link. The guy filming forwarded the video to a friend that is a police officer.

They got what they deserved for racing in a busy spot like that. Just glad they didn't hurt someone else. There should be a test you have to pass before you own a corvette. This is way to common. To many people with more money than driving ability.

Everyone pretty much covered how stupid this was already, but I just want to point this can and does happen at the track too.

If you start losing control like that in the 1/4 mile, GET OFF OF THE F@#$%!@ THROTTLE IMMEDIATELY
