This is the part that scares me...

Technology leadership: The new GM will have a significant focus on developing high fuel-efficiency cars that have broad consumer appeal because they are cost-effective, have good performance and are reliable, durable and safe.

They will be forced to focus on transportation tools instead of cars that are actually enjoyable in their own right.

On the union point, they will eventually cave. They have no leverage here, except threatening not to vote for Dems & President Obama in 2010 & 2012, which isn't much of a threat, if you ask me.

At this point, let's just hope this all works and the gov't can sort it out, get out of the auto business (and the finance business) and let whatever becomes of GM restore itself to its former prominence.

Unfortunately we are in the minority. And It took me a long time to type that and not put any political spin in it.

Sometimes being a Mod has it's drawbacks... Can't always say what I really want to.

Isn't bankruptcy funded by the government? Seems like we are stuck paying for it no matter what.
