Ok so reading this I am thinking that you must have thought you were impaired enough to get in trouble or you wouldn't have "put gum in your mouth" or used what you determined was distraction (onstar). This leads me to believe that you were stopped by an officer that was either too inept to see he had an impaired driver, the officer was too lazy to do something, or you really weren't that intoxicated but thought this would be a good story.

That being said I have arrested hundreds of drunks over the last 15 years or night shift. I am sorry but I give zero tolerance to an impaired driver. I'd rather have you mad at me than getting the phone call I did when my sister killed herself in a one car accident because she was drunk. Remember that while the legal limit is .08 BAC that doesnt mean if you test lower you cannot be charged with DUI.

In Ohio the OVI (dui) laws are really two part. You can be charged and convicted of OVI if you refuse a chemical (breath) test or if you take it and test low. It all depends on the officers observations and you level of impairment. What I mean is if you dump 4 beers down someone that has never drank he may be well under the legal limit but certainly too impaired to drive. The 2nd part of the OVI in ohio is what is called Prohibited Concentration (blowing over .08). So if you get arrest you will see two seperate charges on your ticket. Of course if you refuse to take the breath/blood/pee test you face increased penalties if you are convicted. Remember you signed an implied consent form when you first got your license saying you agree to take a test if you are ever asked to.

Be careful out there. While I give many many breaks for stupid things, you will not get one for drunk driving. Even with a Camaro. Heck I may admonish you more for it.

I only hope that those trying to justify driving while drunk (I'll use the BAC level as a guide here) never kill somebody else. Frankly, I have no problems with them offing themselves by running into a tree on their own. The problem is, more often than not, they take someone else out and then survive.

Seriously, do you want something like this on your concience? The following picture is meant to be educational, and was a drunk driver in Mexico that ran into a bike race.

So that's where that meme comes from!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I wasn't impaired. I was speeding.

You do not have to be a LEO to know when someone is impaired.

I actually had wings, not tree.

Phone call was made during the stop.

Way too many speculations are being read into my story.

If's, might haves, almost, shoulda, woulda, coulda's

So Check out my story guys!

So I went to a bar, instead of being a responsible parent, and my son throws me a text says "Daddy its freezing out here! We are gonna be late for our Grandfathers B-day party".

So i blew him off. Its pre-season brah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I slammed a few down. I had a badass buzz going when the Jose got to me, and I leaped in my Mustang and made haste!

So going 90 in the suburbs the PO-LICE light up the lights.

I was like, its all good brah... Let me just pop in some Bazooka Joe and then I'll panic and use the Sync to call my son.

So I got away with it! Neato!!!! oh and I forgot one more thing to add to this post.....

If you have to chew gum in fear of an officer smelling alcohol on you, you've probably had to much to be driving.
