Once it's in any gear, there is no going back unless you stop, or push the pedal all the way to the floor. Usually, it just wants to unlock the torque converter for more power, and the engine ends up running faster in the higher gears than it would if it would just shift and keep the converter locked, so ultimately they didn't even get the programming for efficiency right.

For years, the weak transmission programming and lack of manual selectability has been Ford's one major weak point. They have been flamed for it by almost every magazine and on-line review of their cars for years, yet for some reason, they absolutely refuse to fix what should be a fairly easy fix.

BTW, was the Tuxedo Black comment a sarcastic one? That was one of the colors they have had to stop producing because the pigment came from the Japan.
Agreed. I've even got some instances where the engine won't drop RPMs and the trans kinda hangs when you brake after accelerating. Like if you stuck it in neutral and laid on it. And it lasts for a good second before it finally drops to idle.

As for the TB comment, I had no idea they stopped making it. Our Merc is TB and to be honest that pigment is just love it/leave it and I honestly love it. Then again I was a RJT fan and have a Maple Red T/A. I love my oddball metallic colors.

Except that Dupont colorshift crap..

They were going to build the 8 spd eventually anyway so it is good that it is going to be built in toledo!!! It could have just as easy been built in Silao mexico or somewhere else.... keeping it in the us is a great thing.... also for every 8 spd made, the 6 spd count will go down by one thus hurting toledo current production... Toledo plant has one of the best reps in North America for trans building and has been the most productive trans plant in North America (including anyone building trans in North America)... like 8 out of the last 10 yrs or something close to that.... so they deserve the business for sure!!! good for the USA!!!!

8 speeds seem to be the trend for the future. Chrysler is introducing a new 8 speed auto next year (or late this year)..GM is now doing the same.

However, a 8 speed manual might be a bit much. I know Porsche is introducing a 7 speed manual that is getting a certain amount of...flak for it. Some people just dont want to row through 7-8 gears.

A nice 8 speed would be nice if it has a good gear range.

And isn't just a 4 speed, with 4 OD gears

[hated the T56, no one needs two OD gears like that, unless your doing top end salt flat runs, the myth thats its a instant performance upgrade still goes on.]

Though Toledo has sold out to the Chinese.
The dream marina district no one will put money into cause everything downtown fails, got sold to China. They are literally betting the whole cities future on the Chinese making a big investment.

rather then wait till the economy recovers and it develops naturally as needed, they will force it, and it will be a bomb just like all the other river front places built in the last 30 years.

They need to move those low rent slums from downtown so you can feel safe parking cause 1000s of crack heads aren’t within walking distance of your ride.
