Wasn't too long ago that a lot of the freeways and interstates AZ were unrestricted. 120 MPH makes for fast trips down the I-10 to LA.

Me too, we should have our states apply the same rules. It would make commuting so much quicker.

If I go past 90 in our 08 jeep and you can feel it becoming unsafe at those speeds. Its like its going to loose control any second.

85 MPH speed limits would help shorten the LONG drive between El Paso and San Antonio on I-10.

Obviously, you've never driven in Russia or Ukraine!

BTW, Ukraine is the biggest country that is completely in Europe, and Texas is bigger! Just food for thought.

Good point I generalized. I meant the Europe most people think of when someone in the states say's "Europe" like Spain, Italy, France, etc. Ever ask someone if they have been to Europe? Most reply's are yes! and the aforementioned...lol

STOP - this thread is going out of control!

I see threads / people talking about moving to Texas. While it is true we have a few roads with decent speed limits and they are considering adding more......

STOP! Do not come to Texas.!

Texas is full, there are no vacancies.

If you do come you better give some thought to such things as:scorpions, rattlesnakes, fire ants, cockroaches on steroids, killer bees, mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers, tarantulas, brown recluse spiders, love bugs, swarming crickets, copperheads, cottonmouths, rabid skunks, wild hogs, alligators, oppressive heat & humidity, bleak desolate scenery, dirty beaches, polluted air, dust storms, drought, wildfires, water shortages, recurring floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, rednecks, huge piles of flaming mulch, spontaneously combusting playgrounds, roads hot as flowing lava, the stench of natural and unnatural gasses, amoebic meningitis lurking in area lakes, recurring ebola virus outbreaks, flesh eating bacteria, staggering homeowner insurance rates, unbelievably high property taxes, mandatory death sentences for DUI convictions.

In addition to the above did ya know:
  • There are 5,000 types of snakes and 4,998 of them live in Texas.
  • There are 10,000 types of spiders. All 10,000 of them live in Texas, plus a couple no one's seen before.
  • If it grows, it'll stick ya. If it crawls, it'll bite cha.
Some folks say Texan's have an attitude towards "northerns", aka Yankees , might be true and (probably goes back to the "Carpet Baggers"). A while back the Austin newspaper conducted a survey to determine what the most popular bumper sticker was,

results:
#1"Welcome to Austin now go home"
#2 "If you love New York then get your ass out of Texas".

We also have our own language here but that's whole n'other post.

So I'll close and leave ya with our state motto:

"Don't Mess with Texas."

Unfortunately, some Texans will never see this unless they take road trips, I45 From Huntsville to Galveston is still, and more then likely will stay 65... the least they could do is bump it up to 70... either just before or Just after Huntsville it jumps to 70, but not in the Woodlands/Conroe/Houston area.
