At least nobody has been saying the cops bag you at 5 MPH over, just because a cool car grabs their attention.

I'm 42 and have never received a "speeding" ticket in my cars. (Got tickets for illegal parking and passing, and expired plates, though.) I obey the basic speed rule of being within a few MPH of the traffic around me. In Southern California, that could be 85 MPH in the far left lane. Never had a problem.

Ive been really lucky so far. I should have a few of em.
I grabbed 2nd gear n went sideways right in front of local police. He flashed his high beams to let me know he saw it but didnt pull me over.

Last spring, just after getting my blower installed, I was leaving the dyno after getting it tuned. It was the first really warm day of the spring and I had the windows down and had exited a four lane highway, going back under the overpass. It was like a huge cavern going back under the overpass and I wanted to hear what my exhaust sounded like so I punched it from a stand still for about what I thought was 5 seconds. Next thing I know, I see this big black Explorer with POLICE across the front in my rear view mirror. A few seconds later, sure enough, the lights turn on and I'm busted. Ticketed for going 89 in a 55, which is license revoking territory. I didn't eat or sleep much the next few weeks. I plead not guilty on the ticket on advice from my brother-in-law who is also a police officer. He went with me to the hearing, talked to the corporal before he came in and asked what he could do for me. I ended up with only disobedience, which cut my fine in half and zero points on my license. The last thing the officer said was "That thing is fast!". Needless to say, I will forever be grateful for having a brother-in-law who's willing to stick his neck out for his sister's ignorant husband!

45 in a 30 = 85 buck fine. No lecture or quarter given, or asked for. Really makes ya feel like a fool to be pulled over, especially when you deserve it.
