I've owned 5 of them over the past 8 years from the E class to the S class everyone was far more reliable and 10x better than the CTSV i owned for 9 months.
The Mercedes expense is just a myth. Out of warranty Benz will rarely cost anymore to maintain than a Caddy.

"Just a myth."

Keep telling yourself that.

I will tell my brother in law to drive his Benz more often because it's really reliable LOL... The 2004 S600 with the AMG appearance package at about 60K miles has been sitting in his garage more often than the repair shop because it costs too much to keep it running.

You guys crack me up...

Still looking, spent some time tonight. Found a decent deal on a IS250 @ 23900 but we are doing our best to stay under budget.

Genesis is a GREAT driving car. Cost is to much even used for the 6, they are hard to find too.

Cruze, not really into that car to much. Plus a LTZ Cruze here runs 26k

Older V12 Benz very different than the 8's or 6's. This being said the new generation S65 V12'S from 09 are bullet proof. Don't get me started on what a POS the first gen CTS-V were. Perhaps the worst $55,000 car that ever hit the road.

P.S. an 04 s600 V12 with 60k plus on the dial sounds like it's been driven alot.

Having a certain amount of very recent experience with Mercedes-Benz, I can safely say that the bulk of the problems aren't experienced by the first owners because, like you, they buy or lease frequently. There's a reason that Mercedes-Benz Financial Services offers the dealership's aftermarket products instead of aftermarket companies. They know how much money there is to be made on it because wealthy buyers tend to sign onto these additions knowing how high-maintenance those cars can be.

I know they arent real exciting, but a year old Ford Taurus or something would be in your budget. You can get them loaded up with like 10,o00 miles on them for around 18-19k.

Maybe try a 2008 Malibu LTZ. They really are great cars. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-...item2c5af80086

We do not like the Taurus, G6, G8 (no 8s for us we have two)

Any suggestions?
If you wanna stay with North American go for the CTS.
If you want a Euro car get a 330i
G6's are toilets

The STS is very nice, and plenty of room inside. Buying used, I would run like hell from higher mileage european cars, unless you enjoy working on them all of the time. They are nice when new or under warranty though.
