Pretty sure the comparison was for new 500+ HP cars under $100k. Show me a new Porsche with 500 HP that's under $100k. Lol
The $50k muscle car GT500 actually did pretty good considering the $90k supercars it was compared against.
I love the way that the Z06 nails 0-60 in first gear!! In the drag racing video you can see the Vette pull on the GT500 when the GT500 driver shifts into second. The GT-R is a monster but I'd still take the Z06 over the GT-R.
I'd like to see a standing mile run with the Z06 vs the GT-R....bye, bye GT-R.

The car looks a bit awkward but you can't deny the performance numbers. Much like the CTS-V not much on looks but scary on the road.

What's really crazy when you think about it is that GM will have 3 (or 4 if you count the CTS-V coupe and sedan separate) 2012 MY cars with over 500 hp and one over 600 hp.

There's much to be said about just enjoying the drive, which isn't all about pure performance numbers. It's also about sound, about road feel, road noise, tactility - ie. "character". Someone said that any ape can do 11s in the GT-R - just push the accelerator and the computer does everything else. So what you're really buying with a GT-R is an expensive simulator.

With a car with "character", the car and the driver are one. The car becomes better because the driver understands the car, and the driver becomes better because the car teaches the driver. It's a symbiotic and equal relationship.

For an owner of a GT-R, the word "character" is a euphemism for expensive maintenance bills.

I had a friend that got rid of his GT-R after 6 months and traded it in on a Z06 for that exact reason.
He said even though it was extremely fast it alway felt "safe" and uninspiring. He loves actually being able to "drive" his Z06 and have that feeling that the car could kill you at any time!!
