I second this motion!!! I went out and worked about a year and a half after graduating then went into the Air Force. If you dont know whatcha wanna do when you grow up, the Air Force is a great place to go...you will learn a skill and will mature until you figure out what you wanna go to school for and then they will pay for your education! The Air Force paid for my associates, my bachelors and is now paying for my masters not to mention all the experience I am gaining just from my Air Force jobs! I have had the best experiences and have gotten to go to places I never dreamed of ever going!! All while my friends from back home hung around there and work dead-end jobs. Honestly, when I joined, I had no intention of making it a career, but it turned out to be the place for me and I can't believe I am on the cusp of 18 years of service already!! When I retire, I will still be young enough to have a second career and I will have no problems getting a high-paying job with all of my experience! If the Air Force is something you would seriously consider, give me a PM and I can offer you some advice.

My bachelors is in Computer Informations Systems My masters that I am working on is in Administrative Leadership I'm in the Air Force. I was an Airborne Computer Technician on the AWACS for 13 years, then when I got my bachelor's I got accepted to Officer Training School to become an officer. I am currently a Logistics Readiness Officer and I'm resposible for the daily activities of 140 people in five different Air Force Specialty Codes to include Vehicle Operations, Air Terminal Operations, Traffic Management Office, Shipping & Receiving, and Contingency Plans. When I deploy in the spring, I will be mentoring the Afghan National Police or Afghan National Army on how to properly conduct logistics. I'm kinda looking forward to it!

Very right xx_Ed_xx on the military not being for everyone.I doubt I could make it thru any of the boot camps so I didn't even try. Espcially the marines, seen full metal jacket that scared men out of that.
But to the op- u just do what u think is right. I moved furniture for 4 years after high school, then went to school and got as assiciotes degree in electricAl engineering. Not even in that line of work. So basicly it was a waste of my time and my parents money. But again u can only do what u think is right for u |

Mechanical Engineering. I'm now a Process Quality Engineer (former Design/Applications). Graduated in August 2008. It wasn't my #1 choice, but it is interesting, and extremely versatile. I get to do problem solving on a daily basis, and the money is fantastic.

Wow, the military folks sure jumped on this one! It was one of the smartest decisions I made. My job pays me very well to utilize my criminal like behaviour. Truely the best job on earth...
SFCamaroSS, are you in 3rd or 7th ? I am guessing that you and I have crossed paths or chewed the same dirt at least, being we are both E-8's and do the same work. I am hoping to come to Bragg for a white cycle tasking. I need a breather!!!

I graduated high school last year and now I'm a freshman in college. I'm currently studying to get a BS in Systems Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. I may pursue a MS in Systems Engineering as well. I'm not sure where I want to go after. Maybe start my own business eventually.
