dragoneye...maybe a Volt is what the tech junkies want, but I will stick to a good old gas burner.

King Sun...A few years ago, C& D raved about the Solstice, then a year or so later trashed it as a useless car that should never have been built. The folks at C&D are bi-polar.

Sorry, I have to disagree. The VOLT is a game changer. Today's Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Volt will have an EPA Rating of 60 MPG overall, which is higher than the Prius. The Nissan Leaf is rated at 73 MPG equivalent overall.

Not too shabby GM! Time to kick some competition butt!

What I feel we need to understand is that this is a glimpse into our motoring future. Like I have said before, this change is inevitable. Even Porsche and Audi are cracking into the High Performancee Hybrid game. It will be a matter of time, before we, whether we like it or not, will be looking inthis direction. That's why Porsche ran their new ALMS Hybrid car at Road Atlanta this fall.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am tickled to death with my Camaro. I like high performance automobiles. That's why I have a 300C for a daily driver. But the future is going to be significantly different than today.

Actually, think about it a bit. Having a hot car that gets 50-60 MPG and can do a quarter mile in less than 13 seconds, isn't all that much of an unpleasant idea to ponder.

I really hope that GM, will push the technology envelop. We as a Nation, have to we can't continue to think that we will need to rely on foreign energy sources forever.

Enjoy today's cars for what they are. The future will be radically different in many ways.

Well I seldom let anyone else decide what is good or bad (safety issues aside of course), I got my Camaro because it is the best.

Just wait until the Z/28 or whatever its going to be called comes out and C&D raves about it..suddenly it'll be a fine automotive journal and deserving of praise.

I hate to tell you ,but the volt still relies on foreign energy. Those batteries need materials that are not found in the us. I don't see a battery powered car as being the wave of the future. It's just a different country that we will depend on for our energy. Plus to pay 40 grand for a car that's get 60mpg vs buying a 20grand car that get almost 40mpg just doesn't add up. You can buy a lot of gas for 20grand.

I'm unsure how much of a game changer the Volt is going to be at 40,000 bucks.

It may not be Car and Drivers top 10 (they always favored Mustang). But Camaro continues to be the crowd pleaser. I get admiring comments all the time. The Mustang 5.0 is a head turner for those who are looking.
