That car would never make it as a Buick. It suits Cadillacs "over the top" personality better than the more subtle Buicks.

It won't be cheap, but the idea is to offset the cost of the Volt. Sell this at 50k and knock a few grand off the price of the Volt.

Update...

Converj is approved for production as long as GM can secure some money from the Department of Energy.

Wealthy people don't want to be seen in some small "save the world" type of car. That car will be seen as mid level luxury at best and that is what Buick should be all about.

Environmentalists can get rich too- or they can have 10 other cars and still drive the Converj for a DD.

Buick may or may not be getting a small 5-passenger CUV with a Voltec powertrain. Either Buick or GMC.

It's going to be looked at as the same market segment as the C230 Kompressor. It won't sell enough to make the general any money so why bother? Forget the trophy car stuff - that's so last decade.

What about all the celebs who use every possible opportunity to tell people the drive a pious or other hybrid?

someone call captain kirk... they found the enterprise... holy lightshow on the inside.

i think dgthe3 has a point there, celebs will jump at the chance to show they're being 'eco-friendly', and being a cadillac you'd expect the car to have some nice refinement inside, so they can ride comfortable while being ecofriendly. double win for them i suppose.
