Anybody get a chance to try out the new performance parts system yet? I didn't get a chance to do the download until last night and I just let it run while I was asleep (slow internet at home = 3+ hour download). It finished by the time I got up this morning but I didn't have time to hop on before work.

I looked at it, but I didn't play around with it. Basically, the parts seem to add a few percent more performance over stock for acceleration, handling, and top speed. Different parts emphasis different things. So one engine upgrade might add 1% to acceleration and 3% to top speed while another would be 3% for acceleration and 1% top speed.

There were a number of other things they did too.

They've changed the performance ratings for cars, using a number in addition to the vertical bars. However, its probably less accurate than it was before. My SRT8 is supposed to be a lot slower than my S5 but its marginally faster. Others were saying that during the update, some cars got nerfed while others were buffed

The pursuits are more difficult now, but give a lot more XP and a bit more cash. There is a car damage system in place, where you have to periodically repair your car. The graphics have been tweaked, personally I liked them the way they were better. You can waste excess money buying reward cards (50k buys 5 cards). I think thats it though I'm probably forgetting a few things, but that covers most of it.

I like the new upgrade system's customization (not to mention the ability to purchase upgrades one at a time if you're strapped for cash), not to mention I like that I can actually upgrade the lotus I bought instead of having to wait until level 25.

Also, the total amount you can improve a car seems to have decreased significantly. Like, now you can only improve a car maybe 10% total in any given category, whereas before it seemed like you could get 25-33% from the pro or race packages.

One thing I wish they'd add was the ability to take parts from a car and put them in your inventory, instead of having to sell them. Also, now that appearance packages are separate I think they should let us sell appearance packages. My tier 1 cars wouldn't have them if it wasn't necessary to get the performance - I prefer the stock look of every car I've seen so far.

As an example, my Lotus currently has like 418 top speed, 382 acceleration, and 424 handling. Not sure how that compares to your vehicles but its almost double across the board what my challenger has (closer to 1.5 times on acceleration). That's up from base stats of 410/360/400.

I like pursuits better now. They don't seem any more difficult to me, but the "getting caught" mechanic is much more realistic. No more "there's no cops in front of me, and I'm pulling away, and yet I just got caught" thing going on, at least not in my experience. The only time I got caught was because I was entirely surrounded by heavies, and there was just no way I'd possibly get away. Pursuits scale up much more quickly now, and I think that's where the extra rewards comes from. Also, it seems like if you evade into cooldown but get seen again you lose a lot of heat in the process. I went from heat level 4 to heat level 1 when that happened to me.

Durability lasts a long time, and repairs are cheap. I don't see what the point of this system was.

Supposedly you can get performance parts from reward drops, but after about a dozen race events/pursuits last night I didn't see one, so they must be a bit more rare.

I don't know what the cause was, but I also got lag last night for the first time ever. It got so bad that I just logged off for the night. I was trying to do a race and it was like the game was skipping 10 frames at a time. I'd just bounce forward a few feet 5-10 times a second.

Also, they've changed the required level and pricing for cars. The Z06 is now a lvl 35 car and costs $850,000.

Of equal importance ... my S5 is constantly sneezing :(

That's because they are. LMAO. From what I can tell, its all recycled territory.

Also, the thing about heat resetting when you hit cooldown... apparently it was a bug. There's a fix for it in todays hotfix.

How big is this game really??

Game page says a 1gig download

Im well past 1 gig, 1.14gig downloaded so far and its say I got near 600 more megs to go???

What kind of math are they using????

Old math. The game grew substantially with the last update.

Their math is even worse, installer when it loads and it check the data so far downloaded, says its looking for 2.14gigs of data yet its still not done and I have over 4gigs of data in the install folder.

No wonder by the "installer" it takes 4-5x longer to download just a few megs.
Their servers aren't slow, they are just dumb.

I've decided that I'm not going to play until they address their lag/syncho issues. In over half the races, the cars don't start at the same time. So you can get stuck behind a car that won't move for another couple seconds. Other times, it causes the car to look like its riding the wall then inexplicably switching to the other side of the track, and blasting through everything, but not slowing down. I know its a bug and not hackers, but that doesn't make it any more fun.

Yep. This has happened to me a lot since the last update. Not to mention rubber banding like crazy.

Then Im in no hurry to download the last 26megs it say I got left, which went on for over 2 hours before I stopped it, guessing its really 260 megs by its math

And probably why the game is all buggy, they got millions of folks downloading for weeks at a time to get that so called 1 gig download. [download page still says that.]

Why I picked it, only 1 gig, that other free game posted in this section was 2 gigs and id rather pay them $5 to mail me a disc then wait to download 2 gigs, which I have done twice over now for NFSW
