That way I would have my product on the street for all to see so that when I had plenty of inventory I could get them out as fast as possible and the general public would be lined up to buy them.
OldTimer, I am not sure what you are getting at. Are you saying don't build the test cars?

No, not at all. First off, I am just assuming they have some inventory of all the parts they need to build these test cars. How many test cars do they build, I don't know. They must, however, have a certain inventory count of everything the production cars need. They may not have enough to build 50,000, but, do they have enough to meet the first 10,000 early sold orders we have committed to purchase?

Secondly, I was being somewhat sarcastic saying they should just build the first 10,000 early sold orders with the inventory they have and worry about getting the parts for the rest......... Again, I am assuming they have enough in inventory to do that. BIG assumption on my part and most asuredly wrong.

I made the mistake of sitting in a new 2009 3LT corvette today. Oh man, it just made me want my camaro now. $46,000 for a 3LT was very hard to pass on, but I did. I do believe I have passed my final test in waiting to the end for my camaro.

With all the drama that has come with this car, it is going to be a day to celebrate once it finally ends up in my garage!! I am saving up a weeks vacation just to drive it every day for a week.

last but not least in yahoos financial page there is a new thread on GMAC stating that the federal treasury late tonight gave GM 5 billion dollars in loans. This is not the federal reserve that had set conditions that as of yet has not been met but are still in negociations

Let me type some of this out

Im going to typye some of the news thread out so IM not mistating the facts of the thread

The Treasury Department will provvide 5 billion to GMAC Financial Services LLC, the ailing financial arm of GM Corp. From the 700 billion bank rescue program.

The Tresury said it will lend GM up to one billion so that the company can purchase additional equity that GMAC is planning to offer as part of the effort to raise more capital.

The assistance is "part" of a larger government effirt to aid the auto industry an is on top of the 17.4 billion agreed to by bush.

GMAC said late monday nightthat it has accepted all the bonds in the dept-for-equity swap and GMAC said it intends to act very quickly to allow lending to a larger contingent of customers.

The Tresury investmet does not mean to pass judgement on whether GMAC has met the feds requirements to raise additional capital.

Much better, sir. I'm sorry if I sounded condescending, it's just frustrating that I want to read the info and I couldn't understand it. Thanks for trying!

I certainly can't speak with any level of factual information on this particular topic, but my guess would be that they have very little parts inventory on hand. This is the day of just-in-time inventory and my guess is that is why GM is crying foul and saying it will delay the Camaro release. I am sure they have some sitting on the shelves for a certain amount of cars, but I would guess that 10,000 is not the number. Perhaps someone from Oshawa (or any plant for that matter) can comment on how many days-on-hand inventory they typically keep. I am sure they would start rolling as many cars out as they do have inventory for though.

When I did my NCM delivery @ Bowling Green we were shown all the activity going on at the loading docks, our tour guide mentioned they are big time into "lean logistics" and have NO MORE than TWO DAYS worth of materials on hand.

That's about what I would expect. The good news is that they don't need a lot inventory. With the issues at Cadence, if they can find someone to take over the production of those parts, they should be able to produce enough parts per day to support the initial Camaro production.
