Still playing it since I just recently got it. I took the plunge and bought a Driving Force GT instead of the G27. Since its cheaper, I was able to buy a stand with it, this one. It works really well, very light weight and compact. Works well with just about any sofa, too.

I did a lot of the Nascar Races up to the last set, the one that requires level 21. I did the first but only got 5th place for bronze and I was way behind so I didn't care to continue trying on those. Otherwise I've been doing the Seasonal Events, FR challenge. 5 laps for 41,000 credits and a decent amount of experience. I've got a 934HP ACS Viper, 834HP ZR1 Corvette, 724HP Camaro SS, and then just some prize cars. The Viper can't turn for crap but its really fast, the Corvette is fast but can't stay planted to the ground while turning and accelerating, and the Camaro just isn't fast enough for all the Expert races but it handles really well. Time to save up for something race modified.

LOL! I haven't played in probably almost a month. I missed all those events I think... I did play some FM3 though, lol. I actually like the sound of a V8 car, unlike in GT5.

They sound fine to me in GT5, just need to turn the music down a little. Especially my Camaro with the full racing exhaust installed. It put the pipes out the side, sounds pretty wicked.

I forgot that I took a quick picture of my Driving Force GT. I now realize it doesn't show the stand I bought :( and its fuzzy since the HDR was on and it wasn't completely stable as I was driving.

I'll try to get a better one tonight.

You probably already know this, but for the sake of others... the trick is to turn off all the assists. Supposedly it was easier before a patch that now forces us to keep ABS on 1, but I never tried the test until after that patch. It took me about 5 attempts to get gold. I've found YouTube a good source for inspiration. Sometimes just walking away and trying later helps, too. I got gold on all the NASCAR tests with the cones on my first or second tries when using my secondary account. Later I thought I should go in and complete the tests on the primary account but for some reason they were impossible after multiple tries. Gave up, came back a few days later and aced them on the 1st or 2nd try again. Sometimes I guess I'm just in the wrong frame of mind for a specific test.

And I kinda hate you for that - especially the "with ease" part. I still can't get close to completing the second test driving the ice-skating-Lotus.

Gees, I suck... so I'm trying to finish the championship series in the thrid A spec set. I have a wicked fast ZR1... but damn I'm terrible at high speeds on those tracks... I finally won the first race, but I'm getting KILLED on the second one which is Nurburgring...

those narrow ass roads at high speeds is disaster for me.... I end up just cliping the grass and it's round and round the ZR1 goes....

I've got the down force set pretty high up front and in the rear... not sure if I need to make some suspension changes... the car is almost lowered all the way but not quite...

any advice?

Well I had to restart them a few times. One of the patches helped a little with allowing little bumps here and there towards the computer. Before that patch (1.05 maybe) I couldn't even come close to getting them done. all 3 were done within the first 3-5 attempts.

Just Nascar is in my way, as well as all the other ones after the Top Gear ones

Are you using a wing? I had the same problems, decided I needed a little more downforce. Added the biggest wing I could buy, Now I'm glued to Nurburgring. Only other thing I can think of is you got the suspension so screwed up that it's crazy.

Also, if you do see yourself getting into the grass on nurburgring, get off of the gas pedal!!! 50% of the time, you can save a spin on that track by letting off the gas, and slowly getting your car back on the track. Remember it's hard to pass on Nur. so don't go nutz, calm down, and focus on keeping the car on the track. After you learn the difficult parts of the track for your car, your confidence will rise.

That's a long track, so don't kill yourself too quick. I keep many of my settings pretty conservative. I think my camber is about -2.0 on the front and about -1.0 in the rear. My swaybars are something like 5 (frt) and 4 (rr) and my bound and rebound are both pretty similar. I think my springrates are right closer to the middle, too, with the ride height almost on the ground; I have the rear lower than the front.

Hmmm, I guess I'll have to give Top Gear Lotus another chance.

Hey, for grins I tried the NASCAR 2-laps again. Holy crap, I take back what I said. Now I'm confident that I won it BEFORE the patch. I remember I was having trouble during my first attempts. As I gained better control, the "trick" seemed to be as simple as not even lightly tapping another car or the wall. As soon as I mastered that, I slowly but steadily gained on the #1 car. Today, even with a perfect run, I barely catch up to the pack right before the finish line. Over & over & over. They reaaaally screwed that one up!

The only thing i've messed with is the weight biased and the ride height...

I have the biased a little more for forward than default.

I have that car maxed out with Race aero kit... IIRC there is only one spoiler available.

maybe I just need to slow down a bit. or go easier on the controls.. I'm decent at keeping the car under control in the grass when I'm on a straight away... but if I get bumped or if I don't time it just right when I get all 4 wheels back on the track.... 360 city...

I probably should do a better job of pacing the lead cars and get some laps under my belt. I'm pretty sure im being too agressive....

cool, I'll check mine to see what's up...

I've been able to get gold on all my a-spec races so far but now that the computer is driving better I am realizing that a fast car isn't enough....

@GTAHVIT: It sounds like you have the "height-adjustable sports kit" since the "fully adjustable kit" is already completely lowered. I played around and the Sports Kit seemed most stable with the ride height at 0, spring rates set at 12.3/12.6 & dampers at 3. When I lowered the height to -5, the car seemed like it was always trying to spin. Maybe the track is just too bumpy to go lowrider. Looking back I see I'd put on a couple minor mods to bring my 09 ZR1 up to 703HP, rear wing at maximum (plus all the aero items) and I ran Sports Soft tires. All that made for a very nice balance (I'd ditch the weight adjustment.) I also tried it with tighter settings on the fully adjustable suspension - it "felt" more stable & planted, but I overtook the lead car much, MUCH earlier using the Sports kit (first 1/4 of the race vs. the straightaway near the end!)

And don't forget - Nurburgring is just plain HARD at first! It takes a lot of driving to learn where the sneaky little "traps" are waiting that try to sling you off the track. I started off spending as much time in the grass/sand/walls as on the pavement, now I rarely mow the lawn (cough/mumble... more than once per lap.)

Did you RM the ZR1 (GT Auto - Race Modify)? If so you have all the upgrades you need. I am not home so I can't give you my setup but this one is good:

http://www.gt5-tuning.com/index.php?...C6%29_RM_%2709

Try the first tune, ignore the HP just race mod the car, get racing softs and go with whats stock. The ZR1 RM is inherently twitchy this should settle it down a bit.

Throwing HP at street cars is a poor idea in this game they will never handle like the race and RM cars do. I have a GTR I use online a lot thats an absolute killer at 600 hp but I rarely run with more than 600 HP as any more than that its just too much of a handful even with AWD. I'm actually slower, especially on the ring with more HP than that.

I never really thought of it that way. I've also been having trouble with my ZR1 at max power. It washes out if I give it too much gas off a corner. I have to really throttle it back. All that excess power is just making the wheels spin more, and if the tires can't keep grip then theres not point in having it. I need to do the race modification next. I bought an ACR Viper but it handles like a brick and I wasted a lot of money on it. I should have enough to race modify my ZR1 after a another race or 2.
