No problem, alway glad to welcome a new investor, my firm except for our own people does not do retail investing, we just do institutional, so none of the places I mentioned are where I work and thus no conflict of interest.

Motley Fool is neutral ground, same for places like CNN Money, Yahoo Finance, so they are good places to get free investment basics. Just like anything new, no need to ruch into it, do your homework first, watch shows like Mad Money (just don't invest in Cramers picks) and other investment shows on like CNBC and FNN and you'll see how often they warn that you need to do your research, just like when you buy a car, know a company that well, who runs it, how they run it, what their books look like, how they are doing againt their peers, etc...
