I seriously doubt you will see a 55 HP bump from it's current rating. I could see maybe 20-25 HP more.

Now if it was an all new motor... This isn't the 70's they (any manufacturer) don't under build a motor by that big a margin. They get about 85% (SWAG on my part) of the power they feel they can throw a warranty on.

This! slight bump in performance for the first year or two, then when the new Camaro comes out they will give it a pretty good bump in power.

It looks good there! I love that color/wheels combo.

How is it a 55 hp increase if the Roadrunner is rated at 444hp? I dont think another 20-25hp is out of the question with improved heads and cams.

LostPony: Your posts are concise and informative, not typical fan boy ranting that I have seen from Mustang people on this site (AND a TON of Camaro owners on this site as well!!!) Thank you for that. It is indeed a great time to be a Pony Car enthusiest and here's to competition!! I cannot wait to see the numbers that the new Mustang puts down and what GM and Dodge do to respond.

The prediction was close to 475HP current rating of a GT is 420HP...

475-420=55...

Or did I miss something? BTW... WTF is a Roadrunner? That's dodge talk...

I'll hit Google...

I just read a few things on the Road Runner... I still bet they don't break 450HP.

I also do agree that it is not much of a change from the last Mustang. It almost looks like instead of redesigning a new car they just did a little style update like they did on the 2014 Camaro. I do think if you took the new Mustang and put it on one end of a parking lot. Then took last years Mustang and put it on the other end of the parking lot, I would bet that my wife would think they are the exact same car. I am in no way saying my wife is a car idiot because she easily knows the diff between a Camaro, Mustang and Challenger. Meaning she would never say to a Mustang owner, I like your Challenger.

Like I said, I think the new Mustang looks nice and it is going to be one nice car. Just think how fantastic the next Camaro is going to be, because we know Chevy will beat it.
I think one of the biggest differences between the '15 and the previous model isn't so obvious in photographs. Although they're similar in size, the wider, lower stance of the '15 is going to be more apparent in person. I don't think you'll confuse one for the other, especially in person. I've noticed this with a lot of new car designs; they don't photograph particularly well. Jaguar comes to mind, they look much more impressive in person than in photos.

Guys, the Camaro and Corvette teams invite rivalry internally. The 6th gen will be competitive with whatever Mustang is out. There's no other option.

-New cams with 1mm more intake lift and 2mm more lift on the exhaust side
-New cylinder heads with revised high-flow ports and slightly larger valves
-Mid-lock cam phasers to provide greater range of cam timing on the intake side
-A revised intake manifold with charge-motion control valves.
-The forged connecting rods from the current Boss 302 engine
-The forged balanced crank from the current Boss 302 engine
-Revised piston tops
-The valve springs from the current Boss 302 engine
-Standard oil cooler

It'll have the Cobra Jet intake cams, Boss exhaust cams, Boss heads with bigger valves (that even the CJ did not get), Boss rotating assembly, and a new intake manifold with IMRC's to better manipulate the airflow from the manifold to the heads. Honestly to expect a gain of only 6hp over that RoadRunner V8 seems to just be a bit of naivety. Remember that the RoadRunner heads are CNC'd so larger valves and a optimized intake manifold could and very well should hit the 475 number...even before DI is used.

I read that same thing on a Ford forum. The cams are larger than the Coyote motor not the Road Runner. Reading that list and saying 475HP is using "Ricer Math" I still bet they keep it under 450HP. Hell most of their guys were predicting 450HP.

I could be wrong. I'm not worried too much about it though.
