My C5F trip may get cancelled because of these new laws. I'm not traveling cross country without protection. That west side of Indy (just south if the Windham) was pretty rough too.

That was a mix up, actually. From what I recollect in the follow up, it was two off duty plain clothes officers who went in with the side arms. Some people complained to the manager probably not knowing they were officers. The manager asked them to leave. The officers identified themselves, but the manager still asked them to leave. It turns out, the manager was new, got in a bit of a mess with his boss, and the officers are still allowed to come back in to eat as usual. That's the last I heard of it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the gun laws, though. If you are LEO, you should be okay. I'd carry anyway. Worst case, you save your own life or the life of another and god forbid get booked. Get a good lawyer and after the "not guilty" comes through, you'll be a millionaire....lol Yeah, that'd all be a pain in the ass! But just like I do every year and every trip, I'll be carrying and so will the wife! Hey...it's in the

We had a New York officer down here in SA (heard the story in inservice last week). He and his family set off his mothers house alarm. Officer arrived, asked the NY officer for ID, he got it out of his fanny pack (seems so many of us carry those...lol) and the SA officer saw the gun in the NY officers fanny pack. He steps back for a quick sec and the NY officer identifies himself. The SA officer is cool with it, allows the NY officers family to go inside the house (who was also waiting outside) and the NY officer thanks the SA officer.............why? According to the NY officer, FOR NOT ARRESTING HIM IN FRONT OF HIS FAMILY. SA officer is like, "huh??? WTF??? You think I'm going to arrest you?" NY officer says, "yeah...I mean I'm carrying in your state. You mean you are not going to arrest me? It's not a problem?"

SA officer responds, "Problem? Dude, this is Texas. The only problem here is you should be carrying TWO guns!"

Hi everyone!

I was looking to see if you guys can give me some help and or guidance. I am looking to pick up my first firearm (friends have had them for years and finally sucked me in) and have decided I want to get a G17. My question is my friends have told me that the gen4's had problems and to avoid them and look for a gen3 but I want to say I read that they fixed the issue (I want to say it was a spring problem). Anyone have any info on this? Does anyone know if it's a certain serial number range I should look for or avoid?

Thanks for any help. :biggrin1:

I've been looking at the RI laws a lot recently and while it doesn't recognize other states permits to carry if you have another states permit it does allow you to carry in the state if you are passing through. So no sight seeing!

What made you decide you want a G17? Im glad youre friends talked you into obtaining a firearm, however I hope they just didnt talk you into a particular model. Everyone is Different and whats good for one isnt good for all. Look at many different models and manufacturers. Put them in youre hand and see how they feel. Go to a gun range that rents different models out and shoot them to see if they are what you want and feel good in youre hand while shooting. Listen to suggestions from others but make sure YOU ultimately decide what is best and feels best for YOU.

So I hear...to be honest, I've been keeping loose tabs on this since I was so busy. I knew several senators were actively working to overturn it...a couple of lawyers got involved, and then the state arm of the NRA is going to file suit...plus this that you just mentioned (though it's not getting a ton of press...)

Fingers crossed...the governor was so BENT on being first (literally racing the feds mere announcement of a task force)....The irony is, that it may just be that NY IS first in the country to say "no, this is too much".....and set the tone for everyone else. If this goes the way I want it to, we may be other states' best hope and example to fend off this insanity. Way to go Cuomo.

Check out as many as possible before you buy since this will be your first gun. I've seen many people buy a gun based on suggestions of others and wind up trading it because they didn't like it or wasn't comfortable to them.

If you like Glocks, check out Springfield XD's. I've shot both side by side and to me the XD's fit better in my hand, are more comfortable and are more controllable than the Glocks.

I like the feel of them and from what I have read they are pretty much one of the most reliable guns out there. They know I'm interested in one but had heard of issues when the gen4's came out. They aren't to familiar with them so that's why I posted here to see what info people here might have on them.

Are they the only gun youve tried? I understand you like it and may want one but I'd suggest you try out a few others also just to rule them out. As far as Glock's go I know nothing. They were the first one I ruled out because they werent comfortable in my hand. Sorry I cant help ya with that.

Bravo to Midway!

Just got this in email....

Dear Valued Customer,

Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSAOne million is an attention-getting number, no matter what the circumstances. At MidwayUSA, Brenda and I - along with the MidwayUSA Employees - have celebrated a good many 'one million' milestones during the last 35+ years.

In 1983, our seventh year in business, we reached the milestone of one million dollars in business during a single calendar year. 2008 was the first year we filled one million orders for our Customers. In 2012 your NRA "Round-Up" contributions, through MidwayUSA, exceeded one million dollars during that single year. Please note that NRA "Round-Up" contributions come from you, our Customers, and each week since 1992 we have sent your contributions directly to the NRA/ILA National Endowment for the Protection of the 2nd Amendment. Our Customers should get all the credit for that, we just collect and remit your money. Now, in March of 2013 came another milestone to celebrate - one million active Customers - Customers who have ordered from MidwayUSA during the last twelve months. For a country kid from Missouri, that's an amazing milestone.

I believe our vision to be the best-run, most-respected business in America, for the benefit of our Customers, our family values and our relentless pursuit of Customer Satisfaction are what brought us to this milestone of one million active Customers. Brenda and I, along with all the Employees at MidwayUSA, thank you very much for your support.

As you might imagine, we gave quite a bit of thought as to how we could celebrate. Should we choose our one millionth active Customer and give he or she a special gift? Well, we could have done that, but all of our Customers are equally important, not just the one who put us over the top. Then someone came up with the idea that we should donate $1 to the NRA for each of our active Customers. Well, let's see, what is $1 times one million?

And so it was! On Monday morning about 10am, when we went over one million active Customers, MidwayUSA authorized our bank to send a wire transfer of one million dollars to the NRA/ILA National Endowment for the Protection of the 2nd Amendment; because we can and because we should.
Thanks a Million!

Looking for a Ruger SP101

I've been looking for a Ruger SP101 .357 Mag, Model 5720 (2.25" Barrell, with Spurless hammer) for a few months now. I know Ruger is making a lot of these but nobody seems to have one in stock. Does anybody have a clue who might have one in stock? I would even consider a gun that is slightly used.

True. Very true..... but since our government is making us fight for it, thank god that we have people and organizations like Midway that support the community and are willing to go swing hard.

....a single $1,000,000 contribution. And all the round-up donations. That's a lot of grunt for the pro-2A battle from just one source. Way to go Midway. You have my continued business.
