I live in Cali and yes there are a lot of soft people here but there are tons of people here who would stand up and fight anyone who invaded our country. I have the guns, ammo and the will power to do so along with tons of others I know here.

There was an extensive test done with 10k rounds of each that I posted a few pages back that did steel vs brass. It showed that there was very little difference between the case itself. What really mattered is the lubricant the steel case was coated with, and the composition of the bullet itself. Steel core and bi-metal bullets is bad for a gun no matter what case you use. If you use these type of bullets, the life of the barrel and other components is reduced drastically compared to solid copper or lead core. I reload most of my ammo so that means mostly brass for me but I don't have a problem buying steel cased as long as it uses lead core bullets. |

I shoot steel sometimes. My AR rifle has seen only 40 brass cases. On the other hand it has seen around 1,000 steel cases (Tula). Same with my AR pistol. My handguns are all 9mm and I bought several K rounds of brass before the boom, so I've not yet reached the need to shoot steel in those yet. But I would probably not put them in my Berrettas, and would put them in my Sig. I have no real reason other than my sig never jams and my Nano and PX4 storm sometimes jam even with good ammo.

My Kimber "Team Match II" 45 Auto has never seen alluminum or steel cases in over 13K rounds. Don't care what the head stamp is but it's brass for me with 185 SWC-BB. Some day a Wilson Combat maybe.

Was talking to a contractor at work yesterday about guns and such, and my 44 mag came up. He said I have about 500 44 mag rounds that I dont need since I dont have the gun anymore. He asked if I wanted them, I said hell yes. Well This morning he handed me a big box and said Merry Christmas lol. SCORE

Thank's for the opinions/info about what ammo you guys use. The Cabela's near my house has a bunch of steel cased .223. I think I'm going to give some a try!
Interesting read about steel vs brass http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/bras...el-cased-ammo/ Last edited by ShnOmac; 02-27-2013 at 03:11 PM. |
