Ah yeah I feel you. I just find it funny when people think they need a degree to make good money. My roommate didn't go to college, is clearing 70Kish now at 23.

Yup! There are tons of opportunities out there. Just requires hard work! We pay rig hands around 80K starting, no degree requried, just hard work.

My profession doesn't need a degree, but it sure does help. It is a line between doing the task and knowing how and why the task is done and the benefit of the task.

A degree doesn't change that.

A degree doesn't change that.

I agree! Obviously every career is different, so different scenarios. I work in Oil and Gas, alot of our field brokers may not have degrees, but do just as quality work, some even better than the in house landmen with degrees.

I started in my field without having a degree in my field. I took a few classes but I was no where near the knowledge level I am now. I was taught how to do things by people who didn't have a college degree and when asked why do I have to do it this way, I was told that is the way it is. Now studying my field and getting prepared for my certification I realize its that way because of laws. Wish I knew the stuff I know now then, because I would have pushed my way to the top of those organizations. I feel like I am so far behind people who are my age.

I have my one paper that's my senior history paper, it's required to graduate, it's 20 pages before citations, so who knows how much that will add. The the three of them are 8 pages a piece, then a ten page paper. Plus a couple of finals in a few classes.

I'm getting work to pay for a CDL and I'm gonna go grab a TWIC card and look at some electrical certifications. Get as many little things in my pocket as possible...

I'm a supervisor at a plant that builds custom fire trucks and emergency vehicles at the rate of about 30/month. I handle the electrical side of things. Kinda just walked into the job as the last few years wore on.
