I just dont understand why Dodge would underrate the R/Ts power. If they have more power, they could raise the prices more. It really makes no sense.

Also, in terms of the 3 different models, what are the total sales numbers by trim?

they already are on the expensive side, especially once you start adding options. not sure of any sales totals though. if i had to guess the R/T's are selling the most of the 3.

No clue, some smart person will have to figure that one out.

Of course the only way to really know is the dyno. Ratings at the crank are not that important, its the rwhp.

My understanding is that the engine started at 376/410 for the manual when they did their SAE rating, but there have been minor improvements as they've gone along and they've haven't re-SAE'd it.

here are some shots and a bit of a back story... my dad bought the car new in '73 when he got out of Nam. unfortunatly, its only the 318 2bbl. it was the base engine for that year and he only paid about $4,000 for it. He was as bad as I am with my challenger when it comes to driving it only on nice days and such so there is almost no rust on her. he got married in '77 i was born in '80 and the car was used by my mom as her daily driver for a couple years. i was a baby in a clothes basket on the passenger side floor wrapped in a blanket! before car seats i guess? how safe! my brother was born in '84 so this car had to go back to my grandparent's car port in '86 so they can get a better family car. i remember dreaming as a 10 or 11 year old about driving it as it sat covered in dust and partially exposed to the elements in the car port. it sat there until 1999 when we brought it home to fix up. didnt need much. the car is 99.9% original. wheels are replicas of the magnum 500's that came on the car. paint is original, interior is in great shape. car only has 58,000 miles on it now.

when i moved out and bought my house, my dad said that i could have it for helping out with getting it back together and drivable since he wanted more garage room. i was soo stoked! so now, i got a '09 challenger and this '73 road runner in my garage! the car i dreamt about when i was kid! i'm very grateful to my dad for that. giving me his baby...i do let him drive the challenger when he wants though in return! oh and now the daily driving honda sits outside

sorry to go off topic guys...

Talking Muscle Car fan period.

They have always held a fascination for me, regardless of make, model or year: They are simply very cool. My first was a 74 Camaro (almost a 67), my current, a 09 Challenger. When my wife and I decided to buy a muscle car, we considered them all. She was hooked on the Camaro and I was leaning towards the Challenger, but was intrigued by the new Camaro. I have always loved Mopar, particularly the 70's Cuda's and Road Runner's.

In making my decision, I recognized I'm not 16 years old anymore, I knew I would not be racing every other muscle car I saw on the street, and I would not be running from the police or chasing my buddies on neighborhood streets with tight turns. I did know that when I found the right car, it would "speak" to me and there would be no doubt it was the right car. For me, that car is the Challenger - I have never loved a car like I do this RT. It has everything I wanted and more. Plus, my wife fell in love with it as soon as she test drove it. Plus, plus, I can modify it and turn it into a "super" muscle car with over 1000 hp if I want to.

Regardless, for those of you sitting on the fence as to which car you want, wait till you find "the one." For me, my Challenger is the most kick ass car on the road - any road. Give me a Ferrari and I would sell it to buy more Challengers (OK, maybe even a Camaro for Sundays and a Shelby Mustang for Mondays). Do some research, be patient and don't base your entire decision on magazine articles, peer pressure or opinions from all knowing "experts."

Now, let the barbecue begin...
I hear you. If I can figure out how to post it you'll see a pic of my latest 2SSRS and first 1st, 68 Charger (still have her).

SWEEEEET! How could you not love that! The 68 Charger I mean (rhetorical question). Camaro's nice too. Might as well ask, can I have your Charger?
