Hmm, this must be a compound word from slang, again with the slang, eh?

Let's see. It reminds me of "Sneezy", there's gotta' be a connection. The prefix of "st" is tough. Could it be from "steel"? or "start"? I think the latter.

Does it mean to start to sneeze but maybe unable to finish? Don't ya' hate that?

How about a "fig" from Germany? Nah, I didn't think so.

How 'bout a slang version of "vigorous"? Or a healthy pig?

It's slang, and actually a shortened form of "vigorish".

Caveat, it's not related to the word "vigorous" or German figs.

Does this mean not only that I'm outa' step with the degeneration of English, but also that it's my turn?

My non-slang word: "Belay".

Vigorish

My word is a term used for the excessive interest / money paid to a gangster or bookie for placing a bet.

I am certainly not an English professor, but I will give your word a try.

Belay: To have happen to, or occur in a certain way

*The degeneration of English is happening much faster than we realize, Ivas -- and digital technology is certainly having its effect on hastening the demise. That's why I don't do Facebook, nor was I inculcated with MySpace.

Belay: Well, sort of, vaguely. It means to disregard a command in nautical parlance.

YOUR TURN. Please go easy on the recent slang, thanks.

Okay, time's up; a privateer was a pirate given legal commission by the enemy nation of the victim of the pirate. Heck, I thought that was an easier one.

New word: "wharf".

Yep, you're correct there. Okay, your word has nothing to do with preparing a chicken for a casserole, does it?

That "pone" part reminds me of a chemical I've seen listed on containers of ant poison.

Am I close?
