I don't think you will find all that many people on this site impressed with Nissan's, that is sort of like expecting to find a bunch of Chevy guys on the Nissan forums. As for the GTR, it seems more like a car they wanted to put together so people would go buy Nissans and talk about it, not so much a legitimate competitor to any supercar. I think it would have been better received if available in RWD form, but then they would not have been able to get such great launches and numbers out of it. If you look at the hp/weight ratio it is not even as good as a base LS3 vette due to the extra weight of the AWD system.

Its not that great. Look at the shoot out that was done by MotorTrend. Between all those cars it came in as the worst. It was almost the worst in every catagory but the 0-60. I will agree with you tho its cheap and it showed it in that article. I think mainly tho the bashing of it here comes from the voiding of your warranty if you used the launch feature that was put in the car by Nissan. Now that its being removed I doubt it would even get the tie that it had in the 0-60 shoot out. For all the hype its not that great of a car.

I think that part of the reason it doesn't look that great is that the Corvette ZR1 really outperforms its price bracket. By keeping up with cars double its value, the ZR1 really makes it hard to make a car close to its price seem appropriate by comparison. The GT-R is a good deal for the money, but it just isn't that great when Nissan advertises it as being an alternative to some of the top-tier cars out there. It's still a good car, but it's not on the same level as cars it was designed to beat, probably because it turns out to not beat them.

Just had a brilliant idea. Why dont Nissan offer their new Downshift rev-matching manual on the GTR!

As much time as I've spent here I don't see how I could ever be so naive as to believe that.

If it were RWD I don't think it would have as hard of a time as you'd like to think. The only reason it has AWD is because that feature has become apart of its heritage from generations before. As you said though, AWD doesn't help it in the company of RWD Supercars, of any make.

"all those cars"???? What was it, two???

Look, all I'm saying is exercise a little bit of objectivity in your statements. I know many of you here would rather have a ZR1 and that's all well in good, but the GTR isn't the car its being made out to be in this discussion. Its quite the opposite actually. A technical marvel, and if Nissan screwed up I'm not surprised. Afterall, its the first model year and the most technically advanced car they've built to date. And they wouldn't be the first to strike out in the first MY.

The Nissan GT-R is a very nice car. I would definetly buy wond if I had the chance, but the whole warranty thing is rediculous.

granted, i ain't on any nissan forums, but there's a few of them i'd love to have. the 240sx/silvia, 300zx/fairlady, 350z, R32-34 skylines. they're light, well built cars that have close to 50/50 balance & are great for race builds. i ain't suggesting they be compared to our domestic muscle, but they made some really good cars.

The GTR is pretty much everything the Camaro isn't. The expensive high tech GTR isn't appealing to those who want an affordable rear drive car with a big V8. They gave it launch control that gives it insane 0-60 times. The 3.3s 0-60 is how it recieved so much attention on the internet over the last couple years. Then we learn that using it voids your warranty. Using it excessively requires a new 20k transmission. Then there is the 'ring time. It doesn't matter how good of a braking system it has, or the yaw control, or DCT, or short gearing, etc. Fact is, 480 hp in a 3800 lb car does not equate to the lap time it had.

This guy is one of the GT-R designers. Oh wait, shit, that's a chick? Doesn't that make it a like a triple fail? I bet she would like a triple-fail combo.

Nissan's GTR has stirred up some serious arguments with alot of people.

The car can run with the big dawgs, and it wont break your wallet.

but one thing you wont find in your comparison tests is how that car is doing AFTER being driven.
