Yeah that's what my brother said, just like he said it's about time considering the only impressive Fords he has seen were Fummins lol.

411hp and 434lb-ft of torque in a truck is anemic? That's what the new 6.2L Ford cranks out, and that is class leading power.
I think 426hp and 420lb-ft of torque in a truck would be close enough to call it a draw, and we know GM happens to make just such a motor. It should also cost less to build and maintain, so "advantage chevy".

What truck is this in? I was on the Chevrolet website the other day and did'nt see an engine with this much power and I just checked again and still nothing. I would like to know so it can help me make my decision when I buy a new truck.

I'm not seeing anything bigger than the 6.0 and it only make's 360hp and 380lb-ft. unless this engine is not offered on the 2500.

The 6.2L is offered in the Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Escalade, H2, and maybe a couple others. I'm having a hard time finding it for the Silverado but I know I've read several reviews with it. It was new for 2009, and introduced mainly to get bragging rights from Toyota for the title of "most powerful half ton pickup"

To the best of my knowledge its the only engine for the Sierra Denali and other premium GMT 900 trucks. Maybe we just weren't looking at the right model and configuration. From 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton pickups, with 3 box lengths, 3 cab configurations, and numerous trim levels ... its easy to get burried. Turns out, its on the 1500 LTZ Crew Cab Short Box with Max Trailering package. I don't know what other combos you can get it with. Its not a standard engine on anything, and it doesn't seem to be a stand alone option either.

Chevy has the 550 HP supercharged LS engine pickup Silverado ZR2 concept in consideration as a response to the raptor. And... quite the response it is...

If it's ever going to go beyond concept and become a production model.... is unclear... but for the time being... unlikely. But damn thats a nice truck.

That is not a Raptor competitor at all. The Raptor is special because of its off road suspension, this thing has a lift kit and bigger wheels. Huge difference. One lets you soak up bumps in the desert at 100 mph. The other makes a show truck look more "trucky". I can see that Silverado being maybe a mud racer or something like that. But it would literally get destroyed if it followed a Raptor into the desert.

They could achieve very close if not the same power as the supercharged gas burner by giving the truck a duramax with a less conservative tune from the factory.

True enough, but I'd say sales wise it is potentially a direct competitor. Brand Vs Brand.

I guarantee half the people buying raptors won't be seeing any deserts or dunes in those Baja machines.

Same as Camaros.... how many people will ever race one or really step on the gas pedal outside of city driving.

Intended purpose of a vehicle or vehicle capabilities mean very little in the consumer world for a fair chunk of buyers.

How many Camaro's sold to date were v8's? With RS package? :P

Problem with diesels is that they now have to run particulate filters and urea injection to meet emissions. Our 2010 Cummins are constantly in the shop.
