So much for the assumption that the camaro is way past the challenger in the twisties . but props to the camaro he came prepared and the challenger guy was humble in defeat

i believe he meant SS (or GT) owners shouldnt really worry about cars that are $10k more. I believe the RT is supposed to be competing with the GT and SS since theyre in the same price range (somewhat, though loaded is much closer to SRT level) . But who knows, it seems dodge is a bit of an oddball and have always been in their own world as far as who and how theyre competing. Theyre some REALLY cool cars, might not be the best performing out there but theyre certainly not comformists.

over 2 seconds for one lap is not a small margin by any means... if they had made it a longer course it would have been a much greater defeat...

I do wonder if the Camaro would have kept it's margin of victory in the drag if it had gone a full 1/4 mile instead of 1/8th...

LOL that camaro dude was funny! both cars actually looked pretty good out there and the Challenger sounded REAL nice considering it only had a filter as a mod.

2011 Dodge Challenger info leaks, 6.4L finally a reality

Information pertaining to the 2011 Challenger has come from a reliable source. The SRT8 will shed the 6.1L HEMI for a larger, more powerful but more fuel efficient 6.4L HEMI with anywhere from 475-525 horsepower. The car will also enlist a roof mounted fin-style antenna, a newer more attractive steering wheel and door handles to coincide with the new passive entry feature, that will allow you to enter the locked car as long as you have the key fob in your pocket.

As of now, it looks like Chrysler will have a nice line-up for the 2010 2011 auto show season, as this engine will be powering the newly designed 2011 Chrysler 300 SRT8 and Dodge Charger SRT8 as well as the Challenger.

03-25-2010 UPDATE. - 2011 Dodge Challenger is supposedly going to be updated in the looks department with an updated fascia. The body of the car will still be the same except for subtle updates (possibly LED headlamps), so the car can debut as a fresh face along with the new 300 and Charger this coming November. The floorpan of the car is also going to be tweaked so the SE model will be able to fit the new MultiAir and direct injection Pentastar V6 engine.

Won't happen though. R/T with the 6.1 would get hit with gas guzzler tax, making it even more expensive than it already is.
R/T is really not overpriced. The base R/T is price right between a base GT and a 1SS, hardly as expnseive as a fully loaded version. A fully loaded R/T runs around 39-40k, same as a GT, of course this includes all options, navi, classic package, etc. The 6.1 is dead after this year. The new 6.4 is actually based on the 5.7. The 6.1 suffers in gas mileage and lacks power for it's price (when it was introduced in 2008 for 38995 it was a screaming deal), Hopefully the 5.7 will see some extra juice for the 11 modelyear. I have speculation of around 400HP, but really nothing even remotely solid yet.

if they are smart, i believe they will rate the 5.7 at 390-400 and let the srt be closer to 500.

Interesting info. I really like the idea of a DI pentastar in the SE. The non DI makes 280-290HP, wonder what what the DI version will make????
