Sounds like another bored cop looking for something to do story. Theres no reason to follow someone after you spot a violation. He should be pulled over as soon as its safe. Again no reason to have him get out of the car or pat him down for "non reflective tail lights". He sounds like a jag to me.

Laws are laws but how they are applied is arbitrary. See the discussion: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=67117&page=12
But was it right to pat him down for a traffic stop? I think not.

Ever seen "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"? I suspect a lot of bullies in school become cops or prison guards so they can continue exercising their need to bully and intimidate other people. Makes sense. Ask yourself: what does a bully do when he grows up?

Stopping cars like the Camaro is just a natural extension of the bully mentality. They can't afford the Camaro so they have to intimidate/inconvenience others who can afford it because of their intense jealousy and sense of entitlement. This is especially so for YOUNG drivers because it reminds them of the only time in their life when they felt any relevance to society: in school. Seeing young people drive what they cannot have reminds them of the potency that they used to have but no longer have in the real adult world.

Just my 2c.

I wasn't referring to that. And the OP didn't say anything about if the cop said anything to him about why he asked him to step out of the car or pat him down. We just don't know his reasoning. As for making him stand outside in the cold/rain for no reason, IMO, he was being a jack hole.

To the OP, it sounds possible that they were keeping an eye out for a Camaro that was recently involved in something illegal. They pulled you over as a suspect, ran your info, and found that you weren't the guy they were looking for. I think it's cool they let you off while informing you of the things you'd be ticketed for in the future.

I would have neck chopped you.

Agree. He's a jackhole for making him stand outside in the rain while he sat in his car. That's probably why he patted him down. You'd have to be an idiot not to pat someone down that you're going to have standing outside your window while you run him for warrants.

Like I said though, not a chance I'm going to stand outside his car in the rain while he checks me out from the comfort of his car.
