I can't tell on my monitor - is the shark fin body colored? I'll be more than a touch upset if the Cruze gets a body colored shark fin and we don't. If they made a 260 hp SS that performs as well as the Cobalt SS, I'd be tempted to go for this over the Camaro. Save money or RWD....? Guess it depends how my finances are at the time. This thing is shaping up to be a seriously nice car.

Expect it to be priced anywhere from 18-20k to start with.

Their reasoning is that Honda, and Toyota, and Nissan, etc are reaping much higher prices per unit on their compact cars, in the neighborhood of ~19,000 on average. But Chevy's only getting ~15,000 per Cobalt. This is why they have trouble making money on compact cars. The Cruze should be placed between the Cobalt and the Malibu in the lineup, because it's not outright replacing the Cobalt...yet. Anyways, on top of being wildly fuel-efficient, GM hopes the Cruze is the first of many small cars to actually earn them some $$.

Having said that -- based on what we've seen of the exterior, interior, and what we've heard of the powertrain...Anybody besides me think it'd be worth every bit of $19,000?

Hmm based on that info, I think the Cruze is an example GM's new focus on trying to make cars rather than trying to make money. When they were set on making money, their quality sliped and so did their market share, and eventually their profits. Now the goal is to make good cars and expect that the money will follow. Lets hope it works.

Chevy's new mini-site for the Cruze: http://www.chevrolet.com/2011cruze/

45 MPG, 1.4L Turbocharged I-4 engine, stunning interior, this blows away every single other car in its class.

Noticed the buttons on the center stack after the writer mentioned them. Too many buttons. Doesn't take too much away from it though. Other than that, very nice.

I will be disgusted if there is a Cruze SS. The performance is way too low. The Cobalt SS is supreme. A Cruze SS would be a disappointment.

That issue aside, I am very impressed with the appearance of the Cruze. If GM keeps this trend going, they will have the best looking lineup in cars.
