honostly mk so honda is a "sports car" is some people's eye's does that mean everyone else thinks it gets 2mpg no... the "cobalt scene" in my small nebraska town has EXPLODED there are the fair share of haters though (they mostly drive honda's) but when it comes down to it how many years did they have most of the body styles for the camaro... about 10 years the cobalt is still young and AMAZING if you were to ask me getting rid of even the NAME cobalt would be a mistake. its not like its what happen to the for pinto or anything they just stepped into a whole new world with the turbo cobalt the FASTEST FWD CAR TO EVER GRACE THE NURIBURG! thats amazing so idt the cobalt will be leaving soon

here's a question...what do you think the chances are of this vehicle being available with a BAS (brake-alternator-starter) Hybrid system?
Being a small car, this could have a significant effect on fuel economy for cheap. Thoughts? |

That's the new Chevy face. We'll see it on everything except the Corvette and Camaro. The car looks great. But once again, how did it get such a gawdawful name? Is it Barbie's car? Will it only be offered in pink and purple? This is the first car I've encountered that I wouldn't buy or drive just because of the name. I would honestly be ashamed to tell people I drove a Chevy Cruze. Cobalt is a nice sounding name, and its actually spelled correctly.

Why is the Cobalt even called the Cobalt? I saw nothing wrong with the name Cavalier.

The alternator doubles as a small motor, which suppliments the engine's power during cruising. It has a highly-researched and VERY robust belt, because when you come to a stop light or step on the brake at low speeds, the engine shuts down and captures the rolling energy as you brake. This recharges the Big batteries that power the little motor, and your accessories during engine-off periods. Then when you let off the brake, the alternator/motor fires the engine back up and off you go. It's MUCH less expensive than the two-mode system, so it's a more practical Hybrid system to buy. (less time is needed to recoupe your investment from gas savings) So I wondered if GM wouldn't consider packaging this system in the car mostly for the feel-good yuppies who would buy it just because it says "Hybrid". |

Oh yes i remember, they were also called the "mild" hybrids. I do remember reading that the "mild" hybrids were going to get a little less mild and deliver much better fuel economy. Obviously i dont remember exactly what they were going to do but i think they are coming soon like in the malibu, aura ... |

Yep, they're gonna use Li-Ion batteries for the next iteration of the BAS-Hybrid (or mild hybrid). It will allow the cars to move from 0-~5mph on pure electric power. The current verisons can't move on pure electricity at all.
