Let's stay out of the politics discussion.

That's not exactly politics...Al Gore is a joke...and the whole ice-age theme of the thread warrants an attack on his character. Just keep it in line...

Apparently the cold is taking a serious toll on some of the backwater sport fish in southern states.... brother of mine in South Florida said they collected nearly 2,000 dead Snook which had died sometime in the last 24 hours from the cold

Climate change is certainly nothing new... I think (and I'm no expect here) that people are taking their 'best guess'.

Making drastic and unrealistic claims based on a constantly changing pool of data is not the right way to approach this... however ignoring that something is going on, is equally incorrect.

Fact of the mater is that we have more greenhouse gases right now then ever before, and they are deteriorating the ozone layer... now what that means for our climate is yet to really be seen... but to think it wont affect it is unrealistic.

So people make educated guesses based on Data which (as we have seen by the constant flip-flopping of 'experts') is far from conclusive... And although the climate change may be a natural cycle which has nearly nothing to do with our greenhouse gases, the average temperature today, is higher than it was 50, 20, or even 10 years ago... and its increase happens to correlate closely with the increase in greenhouse gases.

But if you want to scream the sky is falling, there is a 1 in 38 chance that the earth ends via asteroid impact in 18 years... I'd consider that to be much more deserving of the hysteria

I have an answer for you!

How do you think an ice age develops every 11,000 from a trend of warming? What happens is the ice caps melt a little bit, bringing down the average temperature of the oceans. The ocean rises because the melted ice is now part of the ocean. The cold ocean affects weather by creating cooler cold fronts that can reduce temperatures on land and create more sever oceanic weather formations. Have you noticed that hurricanes 20 years ago were less damaging than recent ones? That's because recent ones have more energy resulting from changing weather conditions.

Here's the catch. The world will get warmer anyway. It is natural. It will cause an ice age, cause massive devastation, and exterminate entire species; and then it will go away, creating a near-equilibrium for another 10,000 years or so.

If this happens anyway, why do environmentalists claim that humans are to blame? The answer is more complicated than the question. Basically, humans have introduced new toxins to the world since the mass-industrialization of the world. Every country has factories, and factories are not natural. They create compounds and chemicals that do not occur naturally in the numbers that they now appear. The environmentalists aren't really saying that the warming of Earth is all human. They are saying that humans are making it worse and breaking Earth's equilibrium. We don't know what will happen if we break the equilibrium, and that scares people educated on the subject.

There are people who study Earth for their entire lives. Why is it that some people claim to know it all after watching a single news report? All of us here on the forum should accept that there are experts on a lot of different things here. To my knowledge, no one has come forward claiming to be an environmental expert, yet a lot of opinions have developed based on misinformation inspired by politics more than science. Trust the science. Ignore the politics.

So why do they ignore the legitimate scientists who refute the 'Expert' scientists. Personally I think there are scientists who get funding that they wouldn't get if they were contrary to the money generating "Mad made global warming' theory.

So what's next? Population control? Maybe so, but 10,000 years from now maybe it won't matter anyway.
