Coilovers are not susceptible to heat issues.

I have not experienced this in 40+ track days. What track are these mag ride issues happening at?

I'd like to know the lap time delta between a ZL1 with ZLE rubber vs a ZLE on a fast track like VIR. I'll bet it would be close, especially since the std Z would make up time on the straights.

That’s 90% if not all tire IMHO.

YEP!!!

The biggest difference between the two isn't lap times, it is more about FEEL and the feel in the hands of a novice can make the difference in lap times.

Having said that and while I only have the SS 1LE and not the ZL1, I can tell you that the feel and chassis composure is amazing and very confidence inspiring.

The ZLE probably feels just a bit more planted and recovers a bit quicker when upset, but not enough to alter laps times much (assuming equal tires).

IMO, I think the damping on the MRC shocks could be a little quicker and crisp on the rebound stroke and that would make the car feel even better.

The DSSV's give you that, but at the expense of ride quality. I really think the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle of both, which I think could have been achieved on the ZLE if GM had worked with Muti-matic and offered a few spring rate options.

The other thing at play is maybe GM needed those spring rates with the downforce the ZLE produces. That is the double edge sword when you start getting into aero, the more downforce aero you have the stiffer the springs need to be to handle that compression at speed.

You don't need different wheels to run the 3R's, the SC3 R's now come in stock ZL1 & SS 1LE sizes

It would be nice if that chart told us what was with a manual vs automatic.

C&D did that test also. They went a whopping .7 of a second faster on a 2:45 course with the A10.

The DSSV shocks are pretty slick, but why not add some adjustability (even a 1 way setting) for the driver? Having those shocks set at 10/10 all the time is madness unless you want to trailer the car to the track. Shelby GT350/R uses magride and P-cars (GT3) use PASM (bilstein) and they both have mode selections for shock settings.

Also not all tracks are glass smooth - dialing down the shocks helps to cope with bumpy surfaces better which translates into more mechanical grip and also prevents the tires from overheating too fast.

The ZLE is very well setup for a track car out of the box, but having a little bit of shock adjustability would of been icing on the cake for this car.

The 1LE pkg is designed for the track. The engineers provided the non-1LE car for those who want street manners.

Technically yes, but not in 305/325 19"s.

I don't think anyone is disputing this. But I agree with having even some adjustments would have been nice. Anyway, so back to he topic here, any regrets from someone moving to the ZL1 after the ZLE?

I guess I am still hoping someone with experience at both car tell me if the different is obvious minus times at the track? I don't care much about times. I care more about feeling and handling and for this case, the deltas.

What does that DSC controller bring to the table for the ZL1?
