1970 Cutlass "S" Blew up the 350 and put in a 455 -torque monster. It was a screamer, gas was only .80 a gallon, but back them my high school job paid about 30 bucks a week, I was 14 or 15.

I'm not sure I'd consider my first car crappy, though the 383 threw a rod about 2 weeks after I bought it. My second car was crappy...it was a 1974 Fiat 128.

The picture isn't the actual car, but almost just like it. Except for the top being black rather than white. It was also lifted in the back, and had larger tires for the rears.

1974 Impala 4 door Hard-Top. It was a hand-me-down. Dad had it new, then Mom, then my older sister, and then it was mine. Medium blue body, white top. I ruined the first motor trying to see how fast she'd go. Replaced that motor with a G.M. Target-Master 350. Then I really found out how fast she would go. Sort of.

And one more thing,.......I never thought it was a "crappy" car.

I had a 1959 Borgward. What a weak four banger. I got two others just like it to cannibalize to make one working car. None of them cost me more than 50 dollars.

Do any of you fellahs remember that brand? It was self described as "the pride of the German auto industry".

My first car was a 1993 Saturn SL1. I put that car through hell and it never let me down. T-boned a Mustang that turned in front of me at a traffic light. The Mustang was totaled while the Saturn just bounced off and needed a front bumper. Sold it for $3500 when it had 160k miles on it, allowing me to buy my first Camaro, a 1991 black RS 3.1 V-6

My first vehicle was a '76 Chevy Luv pick-up. 25,000 miles, modded with white "spoker" wheels and a matching light bar. 4 banger and would do a scalding 85 mph top speed. I was cool though. Had a Pioneer Super Tuner III and a 7 band, 200 watt amp/equalizer with Pioneer speakers and dash mounted tweeters with the dial on them (for customization of sound ).

I still have my first car...2002 Alero. It's actually a decent car, and was fairly new when I got it. 35 mpg, decent low-end torque out of the V6. Today, it's my winter and commuter (87 miles a day) car. 131K miles and counting....I plan to push it well beyond 200K (hopefully). It's a piece of living history, since GM will never make another Olds.

1965 Corvair convertible

Don't have a picture of it, but it looked just like this one with the wire spoke wheels, red, black interior, 4 speed micromesh manual transmission. I can't even tell you how many times the clutch cable was replaced!

I had one of those, too! It suffered a dual transaxle collapse on the freeway offramp. We came sliding in on a belly landing. What a trip! We just left it there and skulked away to the nearest bus stop...
