There are some conflicting narratives on this subject for sure.

I've used K&N oiled filters on my trucks and SUVs since the 90s, never had an issue (that I knew of) but also didn't keep those vehicles beyond 100K either.

We also started using them on turbine powered aircraft (rotary wing) in 2004. Never experienced any issue with compressor blades or intake plenums nor did we see fouling on intake plenums (inside the filter).

I think the potential is there if you over apply the oil to the filter, but again, I have never experienced that.

If you run an oiled filter and you start getting CELs with MAF codes a good MAF cleaner should clear that up.

Only if you over-oil them.
I have a Roto-Fab on my 5th gen ZL1 for over 5 years now, and have cleaned and re-oiled it twice.

When re-oiling the filter, they tell you specifically, how much oil to use.

This. I went through this back in the day when I was "supping" up my Tiburon! Little heavy handed on the oil one day and I got a CEL with a laggy accelerator. A little rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip to clean the MAF fixed it right up.

I’ve been thinking about doing this too. Already have the drop in filter. I’ll have my tuner look at the tune but I’m sure it should be close
