Hey maybe if they all were to wear little solar hats it might help to stimulate their brain waves and then they could also take credit for doing their part for the enviroment as they drive away in their chauffer driven sedans on their way to their private jets.

How about we vote in people who will do what is needed to get America out on the road to recovery from our addiction to foreign energy. No matter where you stand on energy to think that in the next 20 to 40 years we are going to be able to not depend on oil is an untruth. At some point I would hope technology will come up with some incredible ideas for energy, things that go beyond anything we have today even, but in the mean time we have to be realistic. And realistic is we need it all right now, oil, geo-thermal,nuclear,wind and solar, natural gas and so on. So maybe it is time to give the boot to Pelosi and others like her who continue to stand in our way, lets just start voting them out and make sure we get good Americans in there that put America and the people ahead of personal agenda's. As they say either you are part of the solution or part of the problem, time to vote out the problems and vote in some solutions.

Just my .02...... no petition is legal without an exact address of each of the petitions signers.... Just a pet peeve of mine. I always get these petition e-mails and this one I do agree with, but its not going to do any good to sign it I dont belive.
Think I remember seeing something about that on Snopes as well.

I think the purpose maybe to rally the troops and let those pinheads in congress know that the majority of Americans are tired of their do nothing politics. Pretty sad when the people we have elected, number one do not listen to us and number two, put their agendas ahead of common sense and the security and economy of America.

DISCLAIMER TO THIS POST: The following post in this thread is not directed towards any particular person, political party, or affiliates. I would appreciate that no statement be taken out of context or used to insinuate another statement that was not expressly made. I mean no harm with this post other than to offer my opinion. It is my hope that no one will be offended by the following comments, and they be taken into consideration. Also, don't flame me too bad.
I think that it is funny that people here support this action, when I was looking through threads just yesterday of people damning Congress for its trials against the oil companies. While you may not see the connection between the two for whatever reason, I do. They are both moves pandering to the people. Neither are attempting to move in the correct direction. This results from our nation as a whole and its demand for instant gratification. I applaud the people on this website who realize that this must be undertaken with continued search for energy alternatives. However if the people in this country are given what they want now (cheaper gas) they will pay for it eventually. The only reason the outcry for alternatives has been so strong, and the development so progressive, is because of the increased prices and the people's discomfort to live with them. I advise, for the sake of our nation as a whole, that people suck it up, and learn to deal with tough love. The fewer resources we have, the greater the push will be for newer and more efficient energies. In response, the future government will make more pandering moves to increase funding in these advances. This ordeal will only be solved long term and with a little gritting of our collective teeth for the time being. I guarantee you the oil companies are planning on the long term, which is why they hoard oil and oil bearing land. This is becuase the less they give to the market, the more they can sell it for later, simple economics. They wouldn't pump up all the oil they can and sell it as fast as possible like some speculate, because that's not good business. Those CEO's have patience, and we need to have the same, because they understand what a long term payoff is. |

Some good points however there is no reason to bring our economy to it's knees just so we can develop alternative sources of energy. In actuallity we have been working on alternative sources for decades and will continue to do so whether gas is a $2.00/gal or $5.00 gal.
I also do not think the people in America at this point are stupid enough to believe that even if we solve the supply issue for now concerning oil and gas that we can relax as far as our search for cheaper more abundant sources of alternative energy,. I think we got the point and understand that if we want to continue to grow and lead as a nation we are going to have to explore alternative energy sources of all kinds like we did going to the moon or building the A-bomb. Also I do not really believe in a conspiracy theory amongst the oil companies although there are always those who look for them. Look, the Federal goverment for the last 30+ years has not allowed any nuclear power plants, no new refineries in America, no new real exploration for oil on and around our own lands and also have done very little as far as promoting alternative energy sources. Now we find ourselves in a situation where we need the goverment to get out of the way and let the innovation of America as well as the companies who explore and develop gas and oil do what they do so well. The last thing we need is people like Pelosi and Reid trying to tell American industry how to do their business. Even the Rock Star Obama is starting to cave on exploration because of his drop in polls. And just the other day he had a brilliant idea to get us out of this situation by getting our cars tuned up and putting a little more air in our tires. Just having some fun with that. No need to suck it up or force ourselves to have a nose bleed. No reason to keep running around like a bunch of chickens telling everybody the sky is falling. We just need to calm down, look at things realistically and move forward. There is nothing wrong with increasing oil and gas supplies while at the same time advancing on technologies that will someday replace oil. No reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. And moving beyond oil is going to take time considering oil is intwined in our daily lives far beyond gas and diesel. Everything from toothpaste to vaseline to lubricants to plastics and rubber and asphalt and on and on and on. We have a great task ahead but I have no doubt we can do it and do it without the "Tough Love". |
