No it won't. It will still be a decent amount off the SS 1LE, even with near race tires. The SS 1LE basically puts up GT350 times, Ford says this bridges the gap between GT PP1 and the GT350. At some tracks the GT PP1 is 7, or 8 seconds behind a SS 1LE...

I say this is over a second behind at Laguna Seca...

And a huge fail on Fords part again for not installing trans and diff coolers. So yet another "track" car you can't even track without adding aftermarket coolers.

So true! I can't stand performance packages with 'track' in the name, but not really addressing the issues of running the car at the track.

People can talk about lap times, but if a tracked car has limp mode issues because of overheating, cutting precious track time short, the car is disqualified in my mind.

The SC2 tires are quite a bit better than the Goodyears on the 1LE, should help it quite a bit on the track.

What a joke this package is though. No coolers, no seats (im assuming that), what about elsd? Is it really just a lip, wheels/tires, and some firmer suspension? LOL. Why not just add that shit to PP1.

I believe both the GT350 and the PP2 GT are getting these tires for 2018.. So, GT350 should perform better than last year. I think it'll end up being close between 1LE and GT PP, but still feel 1LE is a better package.

It will be much much closer, but I say advantage 1LE, unless those tires just really put the PP2 over the top.

Mustang advantage: better tires and 5 HP.

Camaro Advantage: eLSD, huge torque advantage (well over that 35lbs under the curve), slightly less weight, and the COOLERS.

To me, the PP2 sounds like its basically the equivalent of a GT350, minus the VooDoo.

Better grip sure. By "quite a bit"? No! Have you driven a car with Supercar3's or are you drawing conclusions based on what you have heard others say?

Bottom line is this Level 2 pack might come close to the SS 1LE with sport cup 2's but after 3k miles of ownership the Cup 2's will be trashed and 99.9% of mustang owners will opt out of replacing with Cup 2's again since its $2k for a new set that will only last 3k.

You guys are brutal. That thing looks good and is a step in the right direction. I'd bet the straight line performance is on par with the 1LE when it's tested. I'm happy to see it comes with side skirts and rock guards. The wheels certainly look awesome and much lighter too. The trans and rear end coolers are a bummer though. Maybe that will change once these things start being delivered. I bet it performs way better than what this forum is anticipating.

I'm glad they are making it. The Level 1 Perf. Pack wasn't much more than a glorified appearance package.

Those seats are optional, they don’t come with pp2 package.

I think the general consensus is it will be close to the 1LE. I don't think anyone here is saying its going to get a huge beat down by the 1LE (at least, unless it overheats from lack of coolers) but to surpass the 1LE means it will be stepping on the GT350 toes.

That ain't happening. Instead, I expect it to be nearly equal, with advantage to 1LE.

The PP1 gets you 3.73s, driving modes, and Torsen dif.

Also folks, keep in mind that Ford is claiming sub 4 second times to 60 with the 10 speed auto. Not sure if the PP2 is available with the auto, but if I remember correctly, it doesn't. So, the car that may be able to beat the 1LE is a regular GT PP1 w/ 10 speed auto. On a road course though, win = Camaro.
